"I do remember." Jennie nodded as she smoothed a hand over Curtis' untamed curls, her finger twisting around one as a fond smile spread across her face. "I'm kind of surprised that you remember that."

"I loved momma's voice, it was so pretty." Curtis hummed before the doorbell chimed, the peaceful setting vanishing from around them as the boy popped up with a beam. "Mommy, the pizza is here!"

Jennie chuckled in amusement as her son darted off the couch and hurried to bounce in front of the door, the brunette woman chuckling as she was once again reminded just how alike her wife and son were.

He melts my heart

Tells me he loves me every day

"Too much pizza."

Jennie smiled adoringly as she watched Curtis collapse back on the floor of the living room, Cloud releasing a small groan as the boy rested his head on the dog's stomach before allowing his eyes to flutter shut.

"I told you to stop after slice number three," Jennie chuckled as she took a small bite of her orange chicken before dropping her fork in the box. "But nope, you said that you wanted to eat the whole thing."

"You should've stopped me." Curtis whined as he curled his arms around his stomach, his nose scrunching slightly. "I'm not gonna be able to take a shower tonight, mommy. I don't think I can move."

"No way are you getting out of a shower," Jennie scoffed as she stood and began to collect their trash, her feline eyes staring down at her son. "You ran around all day and got all sweaty, you're filthy."

"So is your languague." Curtis teased.

"I'm going to ground you." Jennie warned as she nudged her son with her foot, the child snickering as he rolled to the side and wrapped himself around Jennie's leg. "Hey, I have a bunch of trash in my hands and I'm not afraid to drop it on your head."

"I love you, mommy," Curtis muttered into the denim of her jeans.

Jennie froze as she felt the familiar burn of tears before she swallowed hard around the lump that suddenly grew in her throat; even after seven years, Jennie didn't think she'd ever tire of hearing her son say those words to her.

He never failed to tell her every day that he loved her and that she was his favorite person, and it scared her to think one day he might forget to tell her or that one day those words will be replaced with an angered 'I hate you'.

"I love you more, handsome," Jennie replied.

Curtis lifted his head with a lopsided grin, "Do you love me enough to let me skip my shower?"

"I love you so much that it's almost worrisome, but I don't love you enough to let you walk around my house smelling like a garbage can." Jennie giggled, Curtis lifting his head to shoot her a quick glare.

"I do not smell like a garbage can." Curtis protested as he tightened his grip on Jennie's legs causing the brunette to wobble with a laugh of amusement. "I'm gonna make you fall over, mommy."

"Let me go," Jennie ordered with a small laugh as she struggled to free one of her legs, Curtis clinging to her with a playful growl as she continued to shift back and forth. "Baby, I'm going to fall and all this trash is gonna fall all over you."

"I'd be the trash king!" Curtis declared.

Jennie released a small laugh as she finally managed to tug her legs free of her son's grasp before moving towards the kitchen, the woman pausing to glance over her shoulder to watch as Curtis curled himself back into Cloud.
