Hizashi looked down at the folded paper he had in his clammy hand. He looked around the classroom, waiting for Aizawa to come and take his seat beside him. He saw his beloved classmate walk in, his sleepy eyes glued to the ground as his hands sat in his pockets. Hizashi felt his hands shake lightly as Aizawa sat down.

"Shouta..." Hizashi whispered over to him. Aizawa's dark eyes traveled to look at his friend. Hizashi was red in the face, his hand pulling his collar up to hide his flushed cheeks. Aizawa had caught a glimpse of the folded paper being passed over to him. He rolled his eyes and took the paper, opening it.

Hizashi didn't understand why he was so nervous. He was never this flustered over something so simple. He glanced over at Aizawa. He was able to see the boys red cheeks through the thick strands of black hair that hung down the sides of his face.

He leaned down and frantically looked through his bag for a pencil. He hunched over the paper and wrote something before shakily folding it up again. He practically tossed it back over to Hizashi, his face still hidden behind his hair. Hizashi frowned as he looked down at the paper. He was afraid to see what he has written. He cautiously opened it and read over the whole thing.

Shouta,
Go out with me?

Hizashi looked past what he'd written to see what Aizawa had responded with. On the corner of the page, there was small, messy handwriting.

Yes.
Keep quiet about it or I'll change my mind.

Hizashi reread the small writing over and over again as a grin appeared on his face. He snapped his head to look over at Aizawa.

He was smiling ever so softly, his face still red. His eyes were filled with something Hizashi had never seen before.

Love.

From that day forward, the two were inseparable, whether they showed it or not. At school they acted like nothing happened, although Hizashi couldn't help but smile wider than usual.

When they were alone, it was a different story.

Hizashi's parents were never home, so they often spent time at his house on weekends and on days where they couldn't stand being apart from each other. Nobody there to judge them, nobody there to see the softer side of Aizawa.

Hizashi would play a movie, Aizawa would curl up in his lap. Aizawa would call him Zashi, Hizashi would pick on his love for cats and call him Kitten. Aizawa loved the pet name. It made him feel happy, loved, and at ease.

They were in love.

One weekend where Aizawa was at Hizashi's house, there was a storm. Worried for his boyfriends safety and well-being, Hizashi suggested he stayed at his house. They had spent the night together before, but something about that night seemed different.

Hizashi kisses Aizawa and couldn't stop. His lips seemed to be glued to him. It didn't stop there. Things got heated, intense. Hizashi was so caught up in that moment, as was Aizawa.

The next morning seemed tense.

Aizawa seemed quiet as if he were thinking, contemplating what to do. He left not too long after they had woken up.

Hizashi felt as if he did something wrong. They talked, but not like they used to. He still came over, but that seemed wrong too.

Aizawa had felt troubled, ashamed, stupid. He loved what they had, but he couldn't help but regret it.

"Let's make a deal." He said. "As much as I'd hate to say this, we shouldn't see each other anymore. We'll always be friends, no matter what, I promise. But, when we get older, work and ourselves will be top priority."

"I'm sorry...I love you."

That was the end of the highschool lovers, the lovebirds.
