Chapter 2

Y/N's P.O.V.

I tossed and turned all throughout the night, when I had finally fallen asleep which I'm guessing was around 5:00am it was a peaceful and dreamless sleep.

I was awoken by a loud knock on the door, "One minute!" I yelled to the person who was knocking.

I quickly fixed up my hair and brushed my teeth all in under a minute, I walked to the door and opened it revealing a patiently waiting Near.

"I-uh-Near, what are you doing here?" I asked confused at his presence.

"Since you are new here I thought that I would escort you to breakfast." Near answered in a monotone voice as he twirled a piece of his snowy white hair.

"Oh-uh-thanks." I said smiling at him.

He turned around and started walking with me following, "Near, if you don't mind me asking, why do you always seem so... emotionless?" I asked hoping he didn't take offend to it.

"Emotions are not important in life, only knowledge." He answered with the same monotone voice he used before.

"But what about love? What if you fall in love with someone? Is that not important?" I asked confused about his answer.

"Love is not important because it simply does not exist." He answered flatly.

"You're wrong Near, love does exist." I said as we both grabbed a tray each.

"Explain?" He asked as we got in line for breakfast while holding our trays.

"I loved my parents, I could tell because of the way I mourned for them after their death." I answered flatly as we put our trays on the counter, we were served eggs,bacon and carrots and we could choose a drink between milk, orange juice or water. I chose water and Near chose the same.

"I don't expect you to sit with me as I usually sit alone but it's entirely your choice." Near said in his usual monotone voice.

"Alright." I answered him as I followed him to a table closer to the back wall, I was planning to sit with Near before a breathless Matt came running to me.

"Y/N!" I turned around towards the voice that had called me name, well my alias.

"Oh-uh-Good morning Matt." I said as I smiled at him. I heard Near's tray be gently put on the table that we were about to sit at.

"Hey, morning, I was wondering if you wanted to come sit with Mello and I?" He asked smiling back at me as he peeked his head behind my shoulder noticing Near sitting behind us. "Unless you were already sitting with Near."

"Uhh." I turned to look at Near, he seemed so lonely always having to sit alone. 'he doesn't believe in feelings though' I thought as I looked back at Matt.

"Sure." I said smiling, 'but Near was nice enough to wake you up for breakfast, the least you could do is sit with him' I thought to myself.

"Great!" Matt said smiling back at me, "Just follow me."

As I followed Matt to wherever he and Mello were sitting, I turned around and glanced at Near, he was staring at his food while twirling that same piece of snowy white hair.

"Hey Mello, Y/N's going to sit with us, is that okay?" Matt asked Mello as he sat down across from him.

"Yeah, sure whatever." Mello answered taking a loud snap of his chocolate bar.

I sat down beside Matt as he started scarfing down his food, I giggled at him as he stopped eating well... inhaling his food and looked at me with a confused face.
