Mrs. Santos looked back at her from the shotgun seat, worried. She didn't know what was going on in Scarlett's mind.
Scarlett noticed Mrs. Santos looking at her and forced a smile.
Mrs. Santos looked at her husband with questioning eyes. Was Scarlett going to be okay? They didn't know what to do either. They didn't know any of the Ramirez's relatives, or if they even have any close by. As much as they wanted adopt her, they already had three children of their own and they we're already tight with money. For now, they were going to let her stay in their house until they find a place where she could stay...

Dito ka muna matutulog ha, Scarlett. Mrs. Santos showed her the spare room they had where Scarlett was going to stay in.
Scarlett sat on the bed and just nodded.
Do you need anything?
Scarlett shook her head.
Mrs. Santos kneeled down to her Iha, isipin mo na lang na pupunta na sa mas magandang lugar ang mga magulang mo. Makakasama na nila si Papa Jesus at lagi ka nilang pinapanood. Wag mong kakalimutan na mahal na mahal ka nila. Nandito rin kami para sa'yo.
She gave Scarlett another tight hug before she left the room.
Scarlett lay on the bed and curled herself in a ball still hugging her teddy bear and tried to go to sleep.

When Scarlett woke up not too long after, a blanket was on top of her and everything was pitch black.
She left her room and went downstairs and out on the Santos's porch.
The rains haven't stopped, but it was lighter now.
She sat on the porch steps looking across the street where their house was. Images of times spent with her parents there filled her mind. Once again, tears filled her eyes but she held them. Nobody knows how much hurt she felt. Losing people so important to her was devastating. She can't explain it but her heart felt so heavy. A great part of her was just taken away from her.
For a young nine-year old, she was having far too deep of thoughts.
*Splish, splash, splash* Footsteps were headed in her direction.
Red! It was Enzo. He was soaking wet from head to toe. But, despite the rain, he escaped from the orphanage just to see his friend.
Anong ginagawa mo dito? Paano mo nalaman na nandito ako?
...
He sat besided her. Narinig ko yung nangyari... Musta ka na?
Ok lang ako no... She said, trying so hard to keep the emotions from welling up.
Sinungaling...
Scarlett bit her lip. Tears immediately fell...
Halika nga dito... Enzo said as he moved to sit closer to her.
