It Takes Two (Preview)

Where It All Started Part 1

She loved her dad so much. He was a very good man, a devoted husband, a loving father. 

She looked up to her dad. Scarlett saw how much he loved her mother and vowed to herself that the man she would marry would be exactly like him. 

Still dancing with her dad, Scarlett was so focused on this special and perfect moment when something distracted her.

She heard the rustling of leaves outside.

They danced and turned, and Scarlett noticed something moving outside their window.

Everytime they turned she tried to catch what--or who--it was. Finally, she saw that it was a boy.

He had climbed the tree by their house and was now watching them from outside.

After their dance, Scarlett gave her father a big, tight hug. 

Later, she ran outside to check if the boy was still there.

He was.

Scarlett just looked at him. He was a scrawny but tall boy. His hair was tussled with some falling over his eyes. His clothes were pretty dirty, probably from climbing the tree. And he just stared back at her.

Hi! I'm Scarlett. She said with a smile.

He looked at her funny. Scarlett? Anong klaseng pangalan yun?

Scarlett. Sabi ng Mama ko ang ibig sabihin daw ng pangalan ko ay ang color red. 

Yun lang pala eh. Eh di dapat ang pangalan mo Red na lang. Mas madali pa.

She just shrugged. Ikaw anong pangalan mo?

Enzo. He answered quickly.

Enzo...En-zo...Enzo. I like your name. Ilang taon ka na? Nine na ako today! She smiled at him again.

Mag te-ten ako sa susunod na buwan. He looked away.

Napansin kita kanina. Pinapanood mo kami ni Papa. Gusto mong sumayaw?  

Hindi, hindi. Ayaw ko. Hindi ako marunong. He quickly said while scratching his head in embarassment.  

Tuturuan kita. Halika. Scarlett wanted to make friends with him.

She held his right hand and was about to put his other hand on her waist when he pulled back.

Ayaw ko nga! Bumalik ka na lang sa loob. Naglalaro ako ng masaya dito eh. Enzo said.

Alam mo, ang sungit mo! Tinapik niya si Enzo. Alam ko na! Siguro gutom lang yan. Halata naman. Gusto mang kumain? Marami kaming handa. She invited him in.

Enzo's eyes lit up when he heard the word food. And right on cue his stomack rumbled and he rubbed it.

Scarlett, honey! What's going on? Scarlett's mom went out to call her back in.

Mom! I met a new friend! Scarlett replied happily.

Enzo stiffenend. Parents we're not usually happy when they find out that their kids have been playing with him.
