Aurora sat in the passengers seat of her mothers black Toyota car, rain pattered against the windshield as they drove along the highway towards a new town.

Her mother sat calmly both hands on the steering wheel. Her eyes focused on the road. She could still see the outlines of the bruises across her mothers cheek and forehead, her lip was still bleeding and her black eye was still visible. Her long brown hair was neatly pulled back into a perfect bun. Even though she had applied foundation to her soft skin only, Aurora could see the bruises.

Only Aurora can see the pain behind the calm façade.

Her mother had always been a strong woman even the beatings that she took from the man she once loved, she never gave him the satisfaction of her being in pain, that's what he liked seeing the ones he loved in pain the sick twisted bastard didn't care that his own daughter begged him many times to stop, that he was hurting her, she begged and begged, but that's what he liked.
He liked the begging the pleas, until her mother and her stopped begging, what was the point he never stopped.

He took away their confidence and made them hide in their shells. He made sure they didn't have friends. The only time they was allowed to speak was when he had his silly business dinners.

He made them act like the happy family. He hugged his wife and kissed her like he couldn't get enough of her, all his friends around the table mocked him "Adams already whipped"  the wives stood back and laughed but behind the fake act was jealousy, everyone wanted to be in her place. If only they knew.

Aurora hated the fake smiles and fake laughs, her mother always saw the pain in her eyes but she always gave her a stern look, they both couldn't afford another beating.
So she pulled herself out of the dark place she seemed to always need and acted like she was the happiest daughter.

"Aurora" her mother called pulling her out her deep thoughts.

"Yes Mama" Aurora said glancing side ways to her mother who was now looking at her with concern,

she could see her mothers wrinkles on the side of her bright green eyes whenever she frowned.

Even though her mother was thirty seven she still looked like the most beautiful woman in the world. Aurora had most of her mothers looks, even though her hair was a few inches longer it still held the same coffee brown hair colour, she took her mothers bright green eyes and her pale skin, sometimes people took them for sisters. But her mother loved it, her words.....

"I don't feel so old now".

However Aurora hated her body. Even though her mother had the perfect weight, Aurora didn't.
She was skinny, too skinny to be exact. But it wasn't her fault having an eating disorder was hard. Her mother discovered it when she had sat Aurora down. She could see her mother was finding it hard to address it she could remember her mother saying

"I'm taking you to the doctors"

her mother was stern but she still could remember the concern behind it after a few minutes of silence her mother burst into tears, she knew it was hard for her. Her mother was the only person in her life who had taken care of her. Her mothers heart broke every time she saw her daughters clothes dragging on her. She could remember Aurora missing meals and the lies, everyday Aurora lied about her eating habits.

Until her mother had enough and sat Aurora down they both cried in each others arms.

After hours of speaking to one of her mothers private doctors he had finally confirmed that she had an eating disorder. They had put her with a bunch of Therepist and doctors but with Aurora it was a slow progress. It was hard especially for therapy she couldn't tell the poor woman that her father had been abusing them and she hated the thought of food.
