This is a story of war, a war that begins in the soul and soon finds it way into the world around you. Love is this war and although it is filled with smaller battles that you can win normally you find yourself losing. Perhaps this will inspire love within you?

----

In the light of the Midsummer moon, two beasts battled for reasons of their own. One a hunter who was tall, well trained and angered by events that were happening around him. While the other was an Alpha, lean and made to battle the female Alpha Lycan stood her ground protecting her pack.

Slammed into the ground with all the power the hunter could manage she watched as he poised that horrid silver blade above her waiting for it to strike at her heart. Blood and flesh smeared on lips as she gutturally growled. Arms pinned down by his knees, ripping fur from its place and causing small tears in the skin. She dare not back down or show him any sign of pain while trying to wriggle free. However, the fear that spurned on the anger in the dissipated into shock as the Alphess watched the hunter drop the knife and keel over in pain. Flopping to the ground as if he had been tasered, his skin marred with inflamed veins of bright blue. Suffocating on the virus as it took hold from the bite on his side that she had managed to get in during the battle before.

The pack which had been distracted by the tearing apart of the other hunters all stopped, covered in blood and holding body parts. They knew well that their Alpha's venom worked faster than most. All watched in fascination as his skin rippled and tore, Fur sprouting between the cracks of skin and his face now stretched and mutated into that of a Lycan. The light of the moon shone down on the circle of Lycans now gathered to watch and welcome a new pack mate. As he howled out in pain the pack joined, however, The Alpha female simply watched and wondered what he would look like. Those who turned had different fur patterns and usually, it reflected their inner personality. Like herself who was cursed/blessed over a millennium, wore a pelt of rusty brown with a silver face marking as though blessed by The Moon Mother.

The hunter still lay inside the circle changing, screaming and howling in pain and hunger. His pelt was a rusty brown but that was common among my pack. Finally, his shift was complete and he stood, now taller than before and with piercing blue eyes. He shook off the last of his humanity and growled. Steam rose off him as he huffed and rose his hackles which made me get ready for another fight however he just stopped. She quickly motioned for the pack to subdue him and waited till the biggest wolves had him. Although his nonresistance made her worried.

"Why did you come to the forest during the Moon Festival? Hmmmm why come to my domain knowing tonight is Our night" Her voice demanding yet calm as she stalked around him. All he did was watch her with disdain and hunger. "Do you want us to end your new life perhaps?". The rest of the pack chuckled as she moved in really close, extending a claw out to his neck with a wicked grin across my face. He did not flinch or even blink which was normal for most males that turned. They thought themselves to be superior to any female and that was ok in most packs but not in hers . These new "pups" or "children" as others called them were always trying to be the top dog (pun intended) Alphess I motioned for Ella and Roman the two holding him to take him back to the den as he would not answer and the pack only had a few hours of the Hunt left. They were yet to catch a deer or anything for the pups and elders to eat.

However, she could not keep her mind focused on the hunt somewhat due to the new pack mate but mostly due to her silver burning wounds. With a certain type of howl, she let her Beta Phillip know he was in charge of the hunt, returning to the Den. What she found when she returned was almost terrifying. Elders who hadn't shifted in decades were standing there in full shift with a few of the younger ones in the steps of shifting.

"What is this? Why have you all shifted?" She asked with respect to the Elders. They all turned to her with a look of awe on their faces as she moved into the circle. In the centre was the new member of the pack however instead of a fully shifted wolf, there stood a tall hunter. His naked form intriguing to her but what she found more interesting was the fact that the new shifter had shifted back. No new wolves could shift back not until their second full moon. But here he stood naked for all to see.

"Get those youth from here, why are they even shifted they're too young." She yelled to the elders as she used her body to block out the view with her larger body. Alphess stood there with eyes glaring at him and handing him clothing. "How? How did you fucking shift back already" she growled at him.Instead of stepping down the human stepped in close to her and growled making his eyes wolf-like then in a rough voice spoke only two words "Fuck you". She took his neck in her large claw and lifted him up giving him a threatening growl she pinned him to the wall. "You want to fuck me, huh well" she hissed her words full of venom and let drool drip down him. However during her attempt to show him her power he had moved his hand into the small of her back. She didn't notice the fact that his hand was shifted until it gripped into her back. Then in front of her, she watched him shift into a huge rusty brown male with silver moon blessed markings just like her. His marking, however, ran around his chest and covered his heart. She stopped and looked up at him with awe.

Now she understood the elder's faces, there was a legend that a Moon blessed Alpha would only find their mate when another was blessed. She had never wanted a mate but it would seem their goddess had other ideas. Stepping back from him she felt the pressure of his hand lessen, her eyes roaming over him and her maw agape with shock. The moment caused her to shift back to her human form which he did also. She went to run, however, he stepped forward and held her in place. "Why, why" he stuttered with a small trace of fear as he held her close. "You are moon blessed, but I don't understand why we are mated," she said and the man could only hold onto her closer. He fell into her body sobbing, then he shifted back to the wolf and howled sadly at the moon.

The Alphess shifted back and lifted her head to join his mournful howl, however as she sang out it changed to a call of mating and she heard her pack cry back in love. They stopped and looked at each other but his eyes were cold and distant. Before she could react he was gone into the dark but she knew he needed time to process. He would return to her when he was ready until then she would wait and rest.
