Walking towards the border was somewhat prolonged and tiresome. It was humid more than it had ever been. Madison, Alicia, Travis, and I had to stop to rest. Travis wasn’t in great shape. We came upon some abandoned cars. I had found some keys to a vehicle on the ground. It was like someone dropped them trying to get somewhere where the dead wasn’t. Just thinking about other people’s stories from the first day makes me believe that there would be no hope for anyone anytime soon or ever.
There was a bustling of the dead hoarded around a truck trying to kill their prey. The snarling was deafening. We were in the process of checking the cars for gas and engine power when shots came from behind us. My group hid, the shots came and went as fast as we ducked.
“I will see what or who is over there, stay here or run if something happens.” They were silent but agreed anyway seeing that there was no other information.
I pooped up with no weapon except my knife in my boot. I saw military clothing and big guns.
This man had his gun raised up towards me. “Stop or I will shoot!”
I stopped abruptly thinking that I need to keep them away from those cars.
“Who are you?!” the gruff man asked.  “Me? I’m just passing through on my way to find a sanctuary.” More men in uniforms joined around the other man. “Where’s the boss?” another one asked. “Here!” someone had shouted.
A brown curly haired man had stepped forward. He looked towards me, he sized me up and smiled brightly. The first man stepped forward towards me and told me to turn around. I did and once he was close to me I took the chance to defend myself. I kicked his shin, turned around proceeded to take his gun from him and hit him with the butt of it knocking him on the ground. As soon as he ended up on the bloodstained earth I pointed his own loaded gun at him. Suddenly I heard clapping coming from in front of me. I looked up for a second and saw the attractive man smiling again. “Wow, she beat you with your own gun Chase.” Chase was glaring at me. The other man proceeded “I should take you with us, you could help my people.” He was serious now. Staring in my eyes. I walked past Chase who mind you was still on the ground and made my way to their leader. “What’s your name?” He responded immediately “Troy Otto, you?” “Y/N.” He nods. “Don’t follow me or I will kill all of you.” I walked past Troy’s group of men and grabbed my pack from the car I had put it in. “But I would like to get to know you!” Troy shouted. His men murmured to not join me whilst I walk but Troy didn’t bother listening since he was in charge after all.
I looked at him and he was already staring back at me. “What!?” He laughed and smiled “You remind me of my mother. She was so determined and strong even though she was abusive.”
I tried to get him to leave me alone but to no avail. He kept up with me the whole time. His men followed. I had left my group there to keep them safe.
I turned to Troy “I have a group to get back too, we need to find shelter before nightfall.”
“Well, why didn’t you say so? I have a compound near here. You could rest and leave in the morning if you want too.” I nodded and turned around. I signaled to them it was safe and they came out from hiding.

We were almost to the compound according to Troy. A few minutes later we were at an army base. He led us to an office with a couch. His men took Travis to check him out. Madison wasn’t having it. She wanted to go with but Troy said that he would be back.
A few hours later and Travis wasn’t back. Just as I thought about Travis not being with us, Troy had walked in with a tray of food and coffee. He smiled at us and set down the tray. Madison and I shared a look quickly and then we took action.
“Troy is Travis alright?” Madison asked. He nods “Ye-Yeah he’s fine we just need to evaluate him.” I went to him and gave him a hug. I wrapped my arms around his neck whilst my hands had found the nape of his neck. Playing with the hair “Thank you so much for saving us!”
He wrapped his arms around my waist after the shock was gone. “It’s not a big deal.”
You took it a step further and kissed his cheek to show even more appreciation. “Travis was hurt and you helped him. You saved us from getting eating by the dead. You've done too much. What can we do?”
He pulled away from me and smiled “Do you want to come with me? I want to show you something.”
I shook my head and followed him out looking to Madison, I gave her a firm nod

I had planned to get us out of here. I don't know how but I will get it done.
First I have to find Travis...
