"How come you're always in such a rush?" Naomi asked, as Cara shoved things in her schoolbag. The hall was buzzing with noise since it was the end of the school day.

"You know I have to go get my sister."

Her other friend, Donna, who's locker was placed right next to hers, on her left, said, "Yeah, but Kailee's thirteen and gonna be fourteen soon. You make it sound like she's a baby."

Before Cara could answer, her third friend, Macey, who was behind her, said, "How is Kailee anyway?"

"She's great." Cara wasn't lying. Her younger sister was a gem. She never caused any problems and she got such good grades. She was hardly ever annoying. Cara slammed her locker door shut. "Bye you guys!" She left quickly, her friends yelling "bye" after her.

Naomi watched her and shook her head. "That girl."

Donna. "Mm. Always strives for the best and so hard on herself." Donna took out some nail polish to recoat the pink she had left on her fingernails.

Macey's eyes sparkled. "It's impressive." Cara's intelligence was at a way higher grade twelve level even though she was already in every enriched program the school could provide. Her sister was also blessed and shared the same intelligence.

Naomi turned to Donna. "You should get like her."

Donna rolled her eyes. Macey laughed. "You could if you tried."

Naomi's eyes widened. "Nail polish? This is what you're doing now?"

Macey laughed harder. Naomi had to laugh too. "This, is why you're not on her level." Donna wanted to argue, but realized how right her friends were, so she began to laugh with them." *

Meanwhile, Cara had reached the entrance to her sister's middle school, which was on the same campus as her high school. She slowed to a stop and looked around, surprised that Kailee wasn't outside waiting yet, like she usually was. She watched as groups of students came out of the school. She heard a, "Hi Cara!" somewhere.

'It's Car-a, not Care-a,' she wanted to say. She turned to find the voice. It was a girl in her sister's class. Ivette. She stepped towards her. "Hey. Have you seen Kailee?"

Ivette shook her head. "Um, no."

Cara thanked her and continued to survey the entrance. Two girls she recognized came out. Liane and Hazel. Her sister's two closest friends. They greeted her. "Have you guys seen Kailee?"

"Um, yeah," Hazel said. "At her locker I'm sure."

Cara smiled. "Okay, cool. Thanks." She said bye to the girls and entered the school, which was her old middle school. She easily made her way through the halls to her sister's locker.

As she turned a corner, she stopped. Kailee was at her locker. She recognized her sister's long, pin straight, light brown hair flowing down her back, a centimeter away from reaching her butt. Cara could also see that her sister was surrounded by three boys. She heard her sister let out a little giggle and say, "No way!"

One of the boys went, "Yeah, totally."

Cara approached. "Um, Kailee?"

Her sister spun around. All eyes were on her. "Oh, Cara! I hope I didn't have you waiting too long."

Cara shook her head. "Uh, no. But, are you ready?"

"Uh," Kailee looked at the boys.

"We'll see you later Kailee," one of them said.
