Y/n was behind confused and shocked as he handed her a book. What was going on? Why was he letting her have all this?

"Ares, your scaring me. What's doing on?" Y/n asked tucking the book into her robes.

Ares only smirked and gripped her wrist as the boat shook violently from dragon fire. Taking her above deck, Ares pinned her against him as he held a knife close to her neck.

"Forgive my odd and mixed actions," Ares muttered.

Y/n struggle slightly until she saw Sky flying with someone on him. Someone who had joined in freeing her brothers. Edith. In the distance Y/n saw more people coming. A black dragon. A very familiar black dragon. Y/n teared up and grew very scared as Toothless dove in blasting the ships. Ares froze seeing a Nightfury. The last time he had seen one was when he had shot one down and killed it only to find hatchlings appearing from a bush. Memories filled his mind, clouding everything around him.

Cry's of a Nightfury rang out as the village was under attack with dragon fire raining down. Ares burst out of his hut with an arrow with dragon root coating it. Many villagers ran about avoiding fire and shoving Ares small body aside. Tumbling to the ground he he heard a dragon snarling at him. Looking up he saw a monstrous-nightmare. Set a blaze the dragon went to set Ares ablaze. Curling into a ball he felt some pick up him and drag him. Opening his eyes he saw his big brother in his normal robes and armor. His ashy hair was darkened with smoke and debris.

"Ares what are you doing out here? Your going to get yourself killed."

"I'm sorry Cades I want to help..."

Cades sighed and patted his little brothers shoulder.

"If you wish to help, go into the shadows of one of these houses and use the bow there."

Ares nodded and did so. Firing arrow after arrow, not one finding it shot. That's when the Nightfury came into view and fired down at the villagers. Ares eyes grew. With a deep breath he pulled back  and wait for the dragon to come back. When it did Ares relaxed and fired.

Toothless's screeching broke him out of his memory as his eyes grew filled with mixed emotions. Quickly Ares started whistling loudly. Highs and lows and some longer than others. Toothless heard each and everyone and moved to each one avoiding and dodging. Flying out of range of the arrows, Hiccup flew next to Edith who was shocked to see someone here with him. Ares let out a breath and loosed his grip on Y/n.

"Stand down men. Flyers! I take it you came here for Y/n! Come on down and we can talk like civil men!" Ares called out to them. "You have my word that your dragon will not be harmed!"

Lilian stared at her son questioningly. Hiccup and Edith glanced at one another before landing. The boat shook and Ares kept her hold on Y/n. Slow dismounting there dragons Hiccups eyes were glued on Ares with fire blazing behind them.

"Good...mother. Take Y/n to the cells and make sure she had something to eat," Ares ordered.

Lilian glared at Ares and took Y/n away. Hiccup's gaze fell on Y/n as she was drugged away. Toothless and Sky hopeless watched her disappear. Toothless turned his gaze away, unlike Sky, and landed on Ares. Toothless eyes narrowed into slit with a low growl raising from his throat. Ares noticed but didn't dare make eye contact.

"Come with me. Your dragons can come with if you wish it," Ares spoke calmly and turned walking to his quarters.

Hiccup and Edith both followed with there dragons following behind. Threw the door they ended up it the same room Y/n was recently in. Ares sat on his deck watching there every move and emotion.
