bleeding sunflowers

I am a sunflower, towering over fields of daisies and sorrow.
My statuesque stem keeps me grounded as turbulent winds dismantle my already anguished petals.
As the sun's golden rays heal the bleeding flower of woe in which i've become,
Wonderous wet water nourishes my woebegone roots until I flourish once again.
But as the dawn sinks to dusk,
My exquisite exterior wilts in melancholy.
Dandelions weep as they watch the mighty sunflower succumb into a display of absence.

As fresh spring blooms once more,
Elegant roses bud in the place I used to stand.
The erratic flaxon yellow that graced dismal fields
are now replaced by the crimson envy of roses.
When my sunflower roots made a return,
Scarlet petals ridicule their temperamental predecessor,
Their egos spilling red onto their fair yellow petals.
"Beauty will forever reign," whispered the roses.
