I sat up in my bed only to find out it wasn't my bed that I was in, the sheets were red instead of white and my blanket was instead of purple white as well

I quickly took in my surroundings, my eyes scanning the dark room until they landed on a still figure in the corner

Soft snores were coming from the figure I looked around for a light switch and spotted a lamp beside the bed I reached for the lamp beside me and quickly flipped on the switch

I narrowed my eyes then

I ran over to the now visible person in the corner and smacked him hard my hand leaving a red print on his cheek

"How dare you have it pitch black in this room I nearly shit my pants you bastard you could've at least gotten a night light" I sincerely hated the dark I always kept at least some type of night light around me

"Did you just slap me Scarlett" his voice was low and dangerous it set off all the alarms in my head but me being stupid I didn't care

"You're damn skippy I did" I nodded my head emphasizing my point and he chuckled

He fucking chuckled

I was so in deep shit I could feel it

He turned towards me his red eyes practically glowing leaving me once again speechless

"Your eyes are friggin gorgeous ruby" I quickly slapped my hands over my mouth

His eyes went from menacing as his whole face filled with disgust

"Don't fucking call me that horrid name" he practically growled out

"My bad geesh Oculus" I raised my hands in surrender

"But I do believe we have some important things to talk about and as calm as I may seem I kinda feel I'm gonna shart my pants" I stated matter of factly making Oculus's lip twitch upward a little

"I know your emotions are coming off in strong waves" Oculus sat back casually

"Sit down Scarlett and ask me any question you'd like to know"

"First off where are we" I looked around the room

"At a hotel about 40 miles away from the people who were chasing us, next question"

I raised my eyebrow at Oculus "um what are you Oculus" he adjusted himself in his seat before answering me as if bracing himself for something

"I am called many things, I go by many names my most famous name is Lucifer and I am the Devil" he stated nonchalantly

"I- cool I guess I am not even going to freak out right now because you might snap my neck in two before I can even touch that door handle" he made a face at my remark and I took in a deep breath "what do you want with me"

"I want nothing but to love and protect you for you are the light to my darkness my dear Scar"

I scrunched my eyebrows in confusion at his answer " what do you mean I am your light" I looked down at myself
" I'm not shining I don't have a darn light on me I'm tainted, battered and bruised what could you possibly want from someone like me Oculus I've been broken beyond repair" I was on the verge of tears replaying every horrid thing that has happened to me

Woah that escalated quickly

I couldn't be his light I am scarred, broken I've had things done to me that should never be done to a person I'd never been raped but I have had other things happen

I quickly shook those thoughts from my head I never wanted to relive those memories

Looking up at Oculus I waited for him to answer only to find him tense and his fist clenched til they were turning white

"Oculus what's wrong" I scrunched my eyebrow

"Scarlett you are far from tainted I am one of those who have been tainted and bruised darkness is a way of life for me everything seems dull if I'm honest but you there is a blinding light to you something you must learn to see for yourself until then I can only hope my words bring you some comfort" Oculus's lips tilted upwards giving me a small reassuring smile

"Why were those men chasing us" Oculus 's face instantly darkened and I regretted asking the question

"You don't have to answer if you don't w-"

"They were trying to take you away from me" he closed his eyes and took a breath before looking at me again "which is why it is time you leave your old life behind and come with me to hell it is time Scarlett"

"Oh fuck"
