Plot: Meliodas starts going blind at the age of 3. How would this affect his future?

"Meliodas, you should be more careful, you almost ran into the table." A tall blonde woman stated as she held her hands on the small blonde child's shoulders, stopping him from running forward.

Meliodas lowered his head a bit and said. "Sorry mama, but I didn't see it there."

He felt her hands tighten a bit on his shoulders. Was his mother nervous again? She got like that when his father came home from work on bad days.

"Meliodas, you've been having a lot of trouble seeing lately, right?"

The three year old nodded. Before, the blurs were more defined and he could tell the difference between them. Now they were blending together more, and it didn't help that things were getting darker as well.

"Well, we'll go to the eye doctor today." The pregnant mother stated warmly.

He let out a big smile and nodded excitedly.

He loved being with his mother, especially since his father was gone until tomorrow.

Maybe he'd get cool glasses like Gowther and Escanor. He thought it'd be so cool.

"I'm sorry, but he's going blind." The doctor stated softly.

Elluris, the mother of the three year old boy stared at the doctor in shock while said boy was playing with his teddy dragon he had brought with him, completely oblivious to what was happening.

"He's what...?" Elluris asked, with a shake to her voice.

The doctor gave a sigh and said, "Your son has a rare eye disease called retinitis pigmentosa which causes blindness. It has been slowly causing his sight to worsen ever since he was born. I estimate that by the time he's five years old he'll be completely blind."

The pregnant mother shifted a bit and whispered. "Can it be fixed?"

"I'm afraid not. If we had caught this earlier, maybe, but we're far beyond the point of correction now."

The doctor looked towards the two and then stated, "Right now he's considered legally blind by law, since he can't define shapes nor read lettering."

He then began to write somethings down and said, "I'd suggest you get him started on reading braille and learning to use a guide cane. I've written down local teachers who specialize in this. I also have a list of places where he can get a service dog if wanted."

Elluris shakily took the paper as warm tears fell down her cheeks. "T-hank y-you. We'll l-look into them-m..."

He nodded. "I know this is hard to take in. I'll give you a few minutes. I'm sorry to have to put this stress on you when you are two months pregnant."

He stood and walked over towards the playing boy, after reaching into his candy jar he had on hand for children. He knew this was going to be a rough time for the lad.

He kneeled down and said, "You did a good job today, Meliodas~Kun. Would you like a lollipop before you leave?"

The boy happily nodded and said, "Yes please!"

The boy held out his hand. The doctor handed it over and said, "You be good alright?"

The boy nodded and thanked him.

His mother soon came over and took him by the hand, leading him out of the office.

Elluris was beside herself. How was she going to tell Meliodas about this? How was she going to tell her husband, Tyrannous? Oh god, what would he do when he found out about this?
