Ailey's Perspective
The sun shone through the thin sea foam blue curtains covering the window. The sunlight feels warm on my skin, and I sigh contentedly. No chores, no responsibilities, it's a great life. I'd say I'm quite a spoiled brat. Nothing is on my mind right now, and my body lies on the silk bedsheets that cover the luxurious bed. I close my eyes once again, intending to fall asleep when I hear my name being called.
"Ailey!" My father's voice can be heard through the walls of the castle. I sigh. "What father?" I holler back in exasperation. What's he want this time? He always seems to be bothering me about one thing or another, though everything he bothers me about is usually important...am I forgetting something? Well if it was something important, I wouldn't have forgotten about it.
Thuds sound at my door, my father's voice booming through. "Ailey! You have to get ready to leave, we are journeying to the Vampire's kingdom. You're supposed to be married in a day's time!" I bolt up in my bed. Crap that was today? Rushing to get dressed and packed, I give him a short reply. "I'm coming!"
I scuttle to my wardrobe. It's beautifully carved with intricate designs of flowers and magical creatures, and is made of mahogany wood. The handles were made from the antlers of an albino elk, and were curved up to be perfectly gripable.
Flinging the doors open, I sorted through the assortment of colorful dresses. I pull out a strapless light green dress and slip it on. It goes down to my ankles and shimmers majestically. It's simple, but it'll work.
Grabbing a few random clothing items from my closet, I shove them in a satchel. The wedding dress is being prepared in the other kingdom, so I wont be needing any other fancy clothes to bring. I dont pack any money. Even if I see something pretty I want in the Vampire kingdom, I'll have father or my soon to be husband buy it for me. I grab my brush, some jewelry, and a hand mirror with an ornate handle and add them to the satchel.
Skipping out the door, I continue on my way to the outside of the castle. Maneuvering through the twisting and turning halls of the castle, I rush out the doors leading to the outside.
A baby blue carriage is waiting below the front steps. I vaguely see a person at the bottom of the steps before a blur of color sweeps me off my feet.
I give a shriek before I realize who is is.
"Valor! Don't do that, you know I frighten easily." He grins, showing off the dimples in his pale cheeks. I ruffle his short, blood red hair. Crinkling his nose, he tries to pull his head away. "Ack! Not the hair!" I giggle and continue my assault on his hair. "That's enough that's enough." He gently puts me down.
I smile, then come back to reality. "Wait why are you here? You're not supposed to be here! I'm leaving for my wedding tomorrow.." His normally gold eyes flash red at the mention of my wedding. "I know your wedding is tomorrow, and I know your leaving now...that's why I'm coming with you!" Valor pulls out a satchel from I dont even know where. My eyes widen. "Really? That's great!" He smiles and rolls his eyes. "Well I can't miss my best friend's wedding! Especially when it's to someone you've never met.." He gives me a pointed look. I raise an eyebrow. "That can't seriously be the only reason you decided to tag along. Give it to me straight." He sighs dramatically. "Fine you got me. So I've heard rumors, that the vampire kingdom has some of the hottest guys ever." Valor grins and I giggle. Of course. Guys. I'm not surprised.
He claps his hands.
"Ok. Let's get this show on the road." He grabs his things and goes into the carriage. I take a step and look back at the home I've known all my life. The castle walls I ran in as a child, the garden I played in. I'm leaving it all behind..I grin. And I'm never coming back.
Hey guys..its me. The author. I know my content may suck, but I dont want to hear you say it. At least pretend to like it. Anyway, I'm writing this story which I hopefully update often. I just hope it's ok.
