And so here he was, laying on the bed of a dirty motel, trying to get the spirits to shut the hell up in the middle of the night.
He couldn't use drugs to calm them down, he was sober now, so he had to manage them on his own, without any help.
He didn't like it. He knew quitting wasn't a good idea.
But did he really rather risk dying at such a young age?
Yeah. He didn't care. It's not like he had much to live for, did he?
Of course he had something to live for. He was just too desperate to realize it.
He will strangle me to death. Please help me. Please help!
"I can't.. help you."
You could hear his voice crack as he spoke. He put his hands over his ears, still trying to make it stop. He couldn't, it came from inside his head. There was no way out.
You'll die just like we did. In a violent, terrible way. It will be amazing having you here with us.
"Go away!"
He shouted, probably waking up half the motel. He could hear the awful, unsettling laughter of one of the spirits, and it made him want to rip his own ears off.
He was tired of it. Sure, he could still see Ben and sometimes there was Dave, too.
Dave was one of the reasons he couldn't go back to doing drugs, he was afraid he'd never see him again. He didn't want that to happen.
"Klaus..."
He heard the familiar voice somehow muffled, not quite clear. He sat up quickly, rocking back and forth, still with his hands over his ears.
The man that just spoke looked at his brother with a sad look on his face, not worried, since he was used to those kinds of episodes, just sad.
Diego got up from his own bed and sat on his brother's, looking at him and putting one of his hands on his shoulder, but Klaus backed up, scared and shaking visibly.
"Hey, calm down. It's me."
Diego put his hand back on his legs and watched as Klaus took a couple of deep breaths and calmed down a bit.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to wake you up."
He was stuttering, and to Diego, he definitely looked like he was about to break down crying.
In the last couple of weeks, it all got too much for Klaus to deal with, and that's why Diego was with him. He didn't want to leave him alone, at least not at night. He didn't mind losing sleep if he could try to help his brother.
"I just want it to stop. I just..."
And so Diego's deduction was correct, his brother started crying, with his arms crossed, hugging his own legs.
"...make it stop."
Diego pulled the other close with one of his arms and hugged him, trying to calm him down. He didn't want to say anything, especially not that it would be over soon, because he wasn't sure that was the case, so he just let him cry on his shoulder, trying to remind him that he wasn't alone, that Diego would've always been here to help.
You know he's going to die like everybody else, right? Everyone you care about, they all die. Maybe you are the problem, don't you think?
"I need a drink."
'No you don't.'
Klaus looked over at Ben, drying off his face.
He clenched his teeth and raised one eyebrow at him.
"Do you really think that I don't? Did you see me?"
Klaus looked back at Diego, that just ignored his brother talking apparently alone since he knew who he was talking to.
Diego shook his head, getting up.
"I'm not driving you."
"Please? It will just be a nice drinking night with my brother."
Diego shook his head again and got in his bed, getting under the covers. He knew that if Klaus started again, even just with alcohol, He'd never stop.
"Just sleep. You'll feel better tomorrow. Goodnight."
Klaus let himself fall back on the bed, but he wouldn't give up. He just waited for Diego to fall asleep before silently leaving the motel, not before getting some money from his brother's wallet.
Both Ben and Dave walked beside him, but Klaus just ignored them.
Ben spoke first.
"Are you really doing this again?"
Klaus shook his head violently. He could still hear voices. It drove him insane.
"You won't be able to see me ever again."
Klaus stopped when he heard those words and turned around, looking at his lover's figure.
Dave held his hand close to Klaus' face, but not getting close enough for it to disappear. He didn't want to see it.
Klaus' eyes filled up with tears once again, he turned back around and started walking again.
"You know this is more of a torture for both of us. I can't kiss you. I can't even touch you."
Ben started walking slower, trying to give the two some space but still wanting to check on his brother. Klaus just ignored both of them completely and eventually managed to get in touch with someone that could get him what he was looking for.
He was jumping around happily once he had the pills in his hand and sat down against a wall not far from the motel, soon popping them all. Both Ben and Dave were shouting at him when he did, but what could they do? Ben tried to punch him again, but it just didn't work.
When he saw Klaus' smile leaving his face and his lips slowly turning blue, Dave completely lost it.
"No, no, no, no, no."
Both Dave and Ben got a hold of Klaus and Dave instinctively laid him down, not realizing what was going on yet.
Ben just froze and pointed at Dave's chest.
"Your wound isn't there anymore."
"Does that look like a priority to you right now?! Call someone."
He said quickly, throwing Klaus' phone at Ben, that tried to dial 911 as quickly as he could with his hands shaking that bad.
He eventually did and ran to the motel after that, knocking on Diego's door as hard as he could and calling his name out loud.
Dave laid Klaus on his side and started to gently pat his cheek, trying to get him to stay awake, but soon his body started to convulse.
Dave had no idea of what to do in that situation, so he just sat back with his hands in his hair and looked at Klaus, scared.
Diego opened his eyes and immediately realized what was going on when he saw that Klaus wasn't in his bed.
He quickly put his shoes on and opened the door, slightly confused when he saw the figure in front of him. He looked familiar but he couldn't quite understand who it was.
When he realized it, he grabbed his face and turned it side to side, just to end up more confused than before.
"I don't know, don't ask me, but we need help."
Diego rubbed his eyes and nodded, following ben to get where Klaus and Dave where.
Diego looked at Dave quickly and soon realized who it was because of the way he was dressed. He tried to do compressions on his brother's chest but it didn't seem to do anything other than probably fracturing one or two ribs. He slapped him in the face, angry and honestly surprised.
"Why did you do th-th-that?"
He shouted and his stutter came back for a moment, something that rarely happened now that he was an adult. He sighed when he heard the ambulance coming and stopping next to them. They got Klaus in it and his brothers and boyfriend, if you could call him that, got in as well.

FanfictionSo I drown it out like I always do Dancing through our house With the ghost of you And I chase it down With a shot of truth That my feet don't dance Like they did with you.
