TW: Depressing thoughts, mentions of anorexia, bullying, mild language

-3rd person POV-

Philip huddled into a ball on the floor next to his bed, his record player making faint crackling noises. He didn't care to fix it, nor play an actual song, as he was leaving for school soon. He just needed a bit of alone time to process what had been happening recently, and the soft crackling seemed soothing to him. What had been happening, you may be wondering? Well, nothing. He just hasn't been feeling right. Maybe it was friendship issues, maybe just some rooted personal problems, or maybe his hunger was finally getting the best of him, he didn't know. He just felt off.. Really off. There was a knock on the door, catching Philip off guard.

"PB! Time for school!" It was Monty, his younger brother. Philip raised his head a little, blinking a few times to remember what he was just doing. He stood up, stretching, then stumbled over to his bedroom door.

"Y-yeah, I-I-I-I'm ccc.. C-coming, Mo-Monty!" He stuttered roughly, then quickly grabbed his stuff, turning off his record player. Another day of school, another day of stress. As per usual.. He sighed heavily, then opened the door, heading over to the front door where Monty was standing there, his usual bright toothy grin on his freckled face. He smiled sweetly at him. Seeing his bright face everyday is like his coffee in the morning.

"O-okay, le-e-e-et's go" Philip nodded. Monty nodded back, quickly and excitedly. He hooked his arm with Philips, then quickly looked back

"Dad! We're leaving! Love you!" He shouted to their dad, and without giving him a chance to respond, he dragged Philip outside, shutting the door behind them. He chuckled quietly. Even though they did this everyday it doesn't make it any less amusing.

As they got walking, there was a sudden growl, specifically coming from Phil's stomach. Monty surely heard it, cuz almost immediately after it happened, he reached into his pocket, then pulled out a granola bar, albeit half eaten already

"I already had my half, you can take the other!" He beamed. Philip smiled weakly, taking the granola bar with shaking fingers, then putting it into his pocket

"T-T-thanks Mo-o-onty-y Mo-ole, I'll h-have it laaa... L-L-later." He reassured him. Or, more accurately, lied through his teeth. He wasn't gonna eat it. Monty giggled quietly, clearly believing him. Philip felt terrible for lying, but it was for the best.. He doesn't need to know about.. His habits... After a few more minutes of small talk about stuff, they eventually came to Philip's school, Nockfell High. Monty's school was further down the road, so Phil always left first. He sighed, looking at the gates of the huge building. It's so big.. Has it always been that big..? It's making me feel sick.. He thought to himself, groaning a little.

"Okay, PB, I'm gonna go now! Have a nice day" Monty chirped, leaning up to Philip to give him a small brotherly kiss on the cheek.

"Y-you too, M-M-Monty Mo-ole!" Philip said after. Monty began to walk away, waving to his brother. Philip waved back, then looked at the gates. He clutched his backpack sleeves, then began traversing forward. It's another day, Philip. More time to fix things.

-Philip's POV-

I kept going forward, my eyes darting around to see who was here already. It was currently 8:15, meaning I had a whole 45 minutes to myself. I got to the lockers, brushing my hand across them all until I found mine. Mine was the noticeable one due to the amount of permanent marker staining the bottom, for reasons I'm still unsure. Suddenly, I froze.

Wait.. What's my combination again..?

"G-GAH, G-G-GODDAMMIT!" I growled loudly, kicking my locker out of frustration. I sighed loudly, gripping some of my hair to try to jog my memory
