"How much did you make today?" Megan smiled, coming up to me.
"$250, you'd be surprised on how many people didn't do the assignment over break," I laughed closing my locker.
"I don't know how you can do work for fun," she frowned. "My mom wishes I could be like you."
"I'm sure she loves you just as much as she loves me," I patted her cheek and laughed. "Want to go to the movies after school?"
"Sure, it's on you cause you just made money."
"You're lucky I love you, because if I were someone else I would've made you pay. Especially since I didn't charge you for doing your assignment," I smirked as we started walking to our first period.
"Whatever! You owe me for all the times you sneak out to 'sleep over' with me. I'm sure Mrs. Lance would love to find out you weren't actually sleeping over—"
"Shh!" I hissed at her pinching her arm.
"Yeah. What were you doing Jem?" A new voice was heard.
I rolled my eyes as I turned to face the one and only Adrian.
"Get lost," Megan glared.
"Hey hey, what's with the harsh glare? I'm just here to ask Jemima a favor."
"Well she's not going to do you one," she said back to him, trying to stand up to him. I didn't need her to fight my fights for me.
"Megan it's fine. I'll catch up to you," I smiled at her.
"Fine. Better watch your back Lancaster, before I punch you where the sun ain't ever gonna shine," she threw the finger at him as she walked away.
"Ouch. I don't think she's kidding about that. I can feel it already," Adrian winced and I chuckled making him turn to look at me. "Jem-"
"What do you need?" I said cutting right to the chase.
He frowned and nodded. "I um wanted to see if you still had any of the assignments for Sal? I forgot to do mine-"
I pulled one out of my binder and handed it to him before walking away.
"Wait don't you want me to pay you?"
"You're fine," I gave him a fake smile, knowing he'll see right through it.
"Listen Jem—"
"Bye Adrian."
I sighed and I walked away from him.
Gosh I hated high school.
