Introduction

There were a few things in life that Arabella Newell feared.

One of them was spiders – she couldn't even bare to be in the same room as one of those bastards on the loose.

Another was needles, where even the mere thought of having to get an injection would cause her stomach to churn.

Other fears she had were much more pressing – such as not having enough money. Even between her two jobs, and her older brother's occasional work with Birmingham's notorious Peaky Blinders gang, the two still struggled to balance their costs, sometimes not even having enough for food on the table.

And then, perhaps her biggest worry – losing her brother Mason, the only remaining family member she had left.

However, there was one thing that most people in Small Heath did fear, but Arabella did not.

And that was the Shelby family.
