Joe's POV:
'Life.' She stated, not showing any emotion.
I glance up at Dianne and try and read her expression.
She slowly looks up and we make eye contact.
I could clearly see the tears welling in her eyes, and her nails digging into her skin.
'Everything in my life seems to just... fall apart. Every time.'
She stared down, letting the tears slip freely down her cheeks.
'A-And I know that everyone else around me thinks that I'm happy and they know the real me... But they don't...'
I step forward, sighing.
Gently, I tilt her head up and gaze into her eyes.
'How long have you been feeling like this?' I ask, wiping away the tears from her cheeks.
She took a shaky breath before answering.
'A few years now.'
I pull her into a tight embrace, lifting her up over to the sofa.
She rested her head on my chest, sniffling.
'I'm just a wreck.' She gazed up into my eyes, rubbing her cheeks to dry the tears.
This just makes me hold her tighter, because I was scared.
Scared that if I didn't, she would let go of everything.
But soon after, she broke out of my grip.
'I'm sorry, but my train leaves in just over an hour.' She muttered, standing up.
'Wait, where're you going?' I ask, watching her rush around while grabbing her belongings.
'Back to London, I need to go-'
I grasp onto her arm as she rambles, making her stop.
'Look, it's not safe to be out alone this late,' I try to reason with her, but she just shakes her head.
'I'll be fine.'
I stare at her, raising an eyebrow.
'Promise.'
I sigh, having a bad feeling.
'Just... Call me when you arrive, okay?'
She manages a small smile, wrapping her arms around my neck.
'Of course, I'll be fine.'
I helped her gather her last few things before she went to leave.
'See you whenever.' I say, opening our hotel room, which we shared.
Dianne nodded, taking her stuff outside.
She turns back, forcing a smile.
She waved at me before disappearing around the corner.
Slowly, I close the door and feel the emptiness overcome me.
Because I'd been with Dianne for days on end, I hadn't realised how happy she made me.
I guess you don't know how much you love someone until they're gone..
Sighing, I collapse back onto the bed and stare at my phone screen.
I turned the ringer up to the highest volume and place it on my bedside table, closing my eyes.
After a few minutes, I decide to try and call my sister to get some advice on what to do when a girl was feeling down or upset.
Hopefully she answered me.
