James was sitting in his new room at the school, drawing with some paper and pencil that was given to him by Tenn. He heard a knock on his and Clem popped her head in. James smiled and walked over to her.
"Hey honey." She said as she leaned up and pressed a kiss to his soft lips.
"I wanna take you somewhere special today." She said.
"Really? What for?" James asked. The two of them had really hit it off after they came to the school together and confessed their feelings a week earlier. All of the other kids in the school were so proud when they announced that they were officially together. AJ even drew a picture of them getting married, causing Clem and James's cheeks to flush from embarrassment.
"Just come with me." She said as she grabbed his hand and led him out of the dorms.
James adored his new girlfriend, she was so strong and smart, and very cute as well. The afternoon sun shined brightly over the entrance of the school. Clem led him outside of the gates and onto a dirt trail. He put his arm around his shoulder and she laid her head against his chest as they walked.
"You know, the first time I saw you, i thought you were gonna kill me." Clem said, chuckling. James smiled.
"I thought you were going to kill me too." He responded. Clem slugged him in the shoulder softly. The path led them into a small clearing with a lake and a picnic table. James took a seat on the bench. Clem set her bag down on the table and pulled out some food. She took a seat next to her boyfriend and offered him a pudding cup.
The light reflecting off of the calm water was beautiful. James loved being out in nature. There wasn't any anger or judgement towards him, he could just close his eyes and be free. And now he had someone who finally understood him and how he felt. James was pulled out of his thoughts by Clem pulling him closer to her. He smiled and wrapped his arms around her small frame, kissing Clem on the forehead.
They sat and ate their food, talking about different topics and joking around. Once James finished his meal, Clem reached into the bag and told James to close his eyes.
"What is it?" James asked.
"It's a surprise!" Clem answered.
James felt Clem's hands place something in his own. He opened his eyes and found a small button pin. It was a small Leo insignia, drawn in purple against a black background.
"Violet made it. I thought it'd be cute since we're both Leos. I have one too, look!" Clem said as she showed off the shiny new button that was pinned neatly on her jacket. James pulled her in for a kiss. They locked lips for a few moments before separating and giggling.
"I love you, Clem."
"I love you too, James."
