It was the last night Atem had with Yugi and his friends. The night was young as Atem stood in silence; little Yugi looked up at him with big, innocent eyes. The love they felt for one another had no other choice but to come out, for it was the las...
The ship, transporting Yugi and the rest of the group to the Pharaoh's tomb, raced across the ocean, for it was the night before Atem's long-awaited rest. After five thousand years Atem finally found the truth behind his past and discovered the way back to it, but he did not go about it alone. His friends were always there to support him, even that night, knowing he would be returning to his universe, never to see them again.

Yugi Muto and his friends sat on the floor in his room reminiscing over the past, but there seemed to be tension among them; it was clear they'd be losing someone very dear to all of them. Tears fell along with laughter as Tea reminded everyone of her and Atem's shenanigans downtown and Joey told stories everyone had heard several times before. Everyone talked to one another except for Yugi, he held his millennium puzzle close to his chest as tears fell upon it. Tea was mid-sentence when she saw Yugi's distress.
"Yugi, are you okay?" She asked
"Yeah, what's the matter, Yug?" Joey asked.
Yugi did not look up from his millennium puzzle, wiping away his tears.
"Hey guys, I think I need some time alone if that's okay. I just need to be alone to think."
"But Yugi-" said Tea, Tristan interjected before she could finish.
"Hey, that's okay. Come on guys, let's give him some time."
"Thanks, you guys." Yugi said with a forced smile. Before leaving, Tea kneeled down and gave Yugi a hug.
Everyone was gone and Yugi felt more alone than ever. He sat facing the open window, the moonlight was riveting that night, and the crisp air gently grazed his skin. He held his knees close to his chest and began to sob heavily, but then his millennium puzzle began to glow. Suddenly, Atem appeared behind him. Yugi turned to face him.
Atem sat on the floor facing Yugi and wiped away his tears, but all that did was trigger Yugi to sob even more, which then causing Atem's eyes to also well up with tears.
"Atem...What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be preparing your deck for our last duel tomorrow?"
"Yugi, I must tell you something."
Yugi was shocked to see Atem actually on the verge of crying.
"What's wrong?" Yugi asked with a soft, caring voice.
Atem closed his eyes and cocked his head down slightly.
"Yugi, I have to admit something to you."
Atem looked back at Yugi.
"I love you."
Yugi gasped, his eyes widened.
"Atem, I..."
There was silence.
"Yes?" Atem, who was usually confident, nervously anticipated Yugi's response.
