"Ready?" Arjun asked Arohi as he grabbed his jacket.  "Yes," Arohi answered asking herself for the 10th time why she invited Arjun.   It wasn't that she didn't want him there, it was just that he suddenly made her so uncomfortable and she was just so conscious of him now. Even more then before.  Though he hadn't mentioned what had occurred at the party,  other then that embarrassing comment about her birth mark.  Arjun glanced at Arohi as he pulled out of their drive way.  She stared out the window,  her brows furrowed.  She was lost in thought.  He wondered what was going on in that brain of hers.  Arohi took a deep breath and turned on the radio to distract herself.

Arohi turned the radio off. She had enough problems as is, the last thing she needed was to depress herself with a love song.  Arjun looked at her questioningly.  "I don't like this song" she said staring out the window again.  "Okay" Arjun said raising his eyebrows.  They arrived at the fair a few minutes later and Arohi gave her sister a call.  "We're here."  "Where are you guys?" she asked.  "By the merry go round" "Meet us there." Neha answered.  "They're at the merry go round." Arohi said getting out of the car.  Arjun nodded an as he walked around to her, he grabbed her hand.  "What are you doing?" Arohi asked, looking at their joined hands.  Arjun looked at her and smiled.  "Holding your hand."  "I see that, but why?"  "Because I want to." he said exasperated.  "Let's go find this merry go round."  Arohi bit the inside of her lip as she looked up at him with a worried expression.  They were holding hands and she liked it.  She really shouldn't like it so much.  But she did.  They reached her sister, jiju and Sonam. " Hi di" Sonam said giving Arohi a wave. "Hi Arjun jiju ." she said with a shy smile.  "Hey Sonam, how are you doing?" Arjun asked with a smile.  Arohi glanced at her sister who had a big smile on her face, her eyebrows raised as she looked pointedly at Arjun and Arohi's joined hands.  Arohi looked away and tried to pull her hand out of Arjun's grasp.  But he wasn't having any of it.  He kept talking and smiling at Sonam all the while keeping Arohi's hand tightly in his own.  For goodness sakes! she thought to herself.  Finally stopping the struggle.  "Have you been on any of the rides yet?" Arjun asked.  "No, not yet." Sonam answered.  "Alright let's fix that.  Looking at his watch he said. "We have a good 5 hours, we could check out every ride here, twice!"  Arohi tried not to look too excited.  She loved going on amusement park rides!  The faster the better.  Her favourite was the roller coaster.   Which was no surprise since she loved speed.  "Sonam, let's go on the roller coaster first." she said quickly.  Sonam's eyes widened.  "No way!'  "I don't like rides like that!" she said.  Arohi's face fell.  Looking at her sister and jiju she already knew their answer was no.  "I'll come with you." Arjun said squeezing her hand.  "You will," "Um, okay." she said.  They walked over to the roller coaster and got into line up.  Arohi stood infront of Arjun and thankfully he had let go of her hand.  But now he stood much to close to her.  She was having difficultly making out what he was saying.  "Sorry?" she said for the third time."  "Let's check out the bumper cars next" he said. "Bumper cars!"  "Yes, I love those" she said excitedly forgetting her earlier discomfort.  Arohi started listing everything else she wanted to do.  "And we need to get cotton candy before we leave!"  " I love cotton candy." she said her eyes twinkling.  Arjun watched her display of enthusiasm with a smile on his face.  He loved seeing her like this.  So excited and happy.  "Sure, we'll make sure we get cotton candy." he said as they got onto the roller coaster.

Arohi screamed the loudest on the roller coaster, grabbing Arjun's arm at one point and pressing her face against his shoulder  The ride lasted a few minutes and when it was over Arjun looked at Arohi's dazed expression.  "You alright?' he asked.  Arohi nodded, a smile appearing on her face.  "Let's go again!" she said rushing back to get into line again.  Arjun shook his head and laughed.  She had a death grip on him the whole ride, yet she wanted to go on again.  They went on the roller coaster twice more and then grabbing everyone else they checked out the bumper cars and a few other rides.  Moving on to the games, Arohi watched at Arjun helped Sonam win a giant teddy bear.  He probably paid triple what it was worth but seeing the excited look on Sonam's face was worth it.    Arohi looked on as Sonam laughed at something Arjun was saying.  "He's a great guy." Neha said coming up beside her.  "I know." Arohi said softly.   "I think you should give him a chance."  Neha said turning towards Arohi.  'What do you have to lose?"  "My heart." Arohi thought.  "But she did know better now."  " And she did know she had misjudged him."  "Where's jiju?" Arohi asked changing the subject.  Neha stared at her stubborn little sister.  "He's making a quick phone call." Neha finally answered.  Arohi nodded.  "You want to come play one of the games?" Neha asked.  "In a minute, you go ahead." Arohi answered.  As Neha walked away, Arohi turned her attention back to Arjun and Sonam, who were in the middle of another game.  This time Arjun was playing too.  He laughed and glanced back, catching Arohi looking at him.  He gave her a small questioning smile.  His eyebrows raised.  Arohi felt her heart skip a beat. She shook her head at him, as if to say everything's fine.  He smiled and turned back to Sonam.   She was falling for Arjun Singhania.  Her husband.  She had developed feelings for the enemy.  Except he wasn't the enemy anymore.  Lost in her own thoughts she didn't see Arjun until he was right in front of her.  A huge teddy bear in front of him.  "To add to your collection."  Arjun said handing over the teddy bear.  "You won this for me?" she asked, a little surprised.  "Ofcourse!"  "Who else would I win it for?"  "Myself?!" he said shaking his head.  "No, that's not what I meant." she said.  "You can atleast say thanks." he said pouting.  Arohi smiled.  "Thanks Arjun." she said pinching his cheek.  "Ow!" he said. rubbing his cheek.  "What was that for?"  "Nothing, I've just wanted to do that for a while." she said smiling.  "Well I've wanted to do this for a while." he said bringing his lips close to hers.  Arohi quickly pushed him away and looked around.  "Arjun!"  "Stop it!"  "We're in public!' she whispered.  "So if we weren't in public, you'd let me kiss you right now?" he asked.  "Since when do you ask permission?" she asked rolling her eyes.  Arjun burst out laughing.  "That's true."  "But that's the beauty of having a wife, you don't need to ask permission."  "It's a given."  Arohi tried not to smile.  "So where's my cotton candy?" she asked suddenly.  The fair will be shutting down and you didn't even get me my treat yet."  "I'll get you your cotton candy." he said smiling.  "You wait here and I'll be right back."  Arohi nodded and as she watched Arjun walk away she hugged her new teddy bear.  "Wait until you meet Mr. Softy Ahluwalia." she said to the bear.

Arohi walked up to her family, handing her teddy bear over to her jiju, she played a couple of games herself.  "It's getting late." Arvind said.  "Where's Arjun?"  'He went to get cotton candy, but he's been gone for a while."  "The shop is at the other end of the fair, and there might be a line up" Neha said.  Arohi frowned looking in the direction Arjun had gone.  A couple of minutes later they heard a big commotion.  Some people were running, and she could hear people saying "Has anyone called the ambulance?"  "He needs medical attention!"  "Is anyone a doctor or nurse here?" Someone stepped out of the crowd.  "I'm a doctor."  he said and rushed off with the person.  "What's happening?" Arohi asked looking at her sister.  Her heart beating so fast she felt like it was going to come out of her chest.  Where was Arjun she thought trying not to panic.  "I don't know." "Let's ask someone" Neha said.  They walked a little closer to the commotion. "what's happened?" Arohi asked someone.  "An accident!"  A large truck came out of nowhere and ran over some guy."  "He's really badly injured."  "Doesn't look good."  "Where did this happen?" Arohi asked her hands shaking.  "Over by the food stand."  "Which one?" Arohi said almost hysterically.  "I don't know, the one with the drinks, and cotton candy and..."  Arohi didn't hear anything else."  "Di, I sent Arjun to get cotton candy for me." she said hysterically.  "Arohi calm down!"  "It's not Arjun."  "There are 100's of people here."  "He's probably on his way back."  "What did he look like?" Arohi asked trying to stay calm as she turned back to the man.  "I don't know."  "He's young, tall, wearing blue jeans, I think a white shirt, but there's so much blood I couldn't tell you really if it was white."  Arohi felt her knees buckle.  "Di, Arjun was wearing blue jeans and a white shirt."  "Arohi, calm down, come on calm down!"  "It's fine, it's not him." Neha said exchanging a worried look with her husband.  Tears ran down Arohi's face. "We need to find him." she said as she turned around and ran towards the food stand.  Crowds of people had surrounded the area wanting to have a look at what had happened.  Arohi struggled trying to get through.  Her family behind her.  She was frantic as she pushed people and tried to squeeze through.  The police and medical staff  had arrived and had cordoned off the area. That's when she noticed a white sheet over the person who lay on the ground.  And next it to lay Arjun's jacket.  Arohi felt faint, she stumbled and was pushed and shoved by people, but didn't feel a thing.  She felt lifeless.  She couldn't speak.  Silent tears fell rapidly from her eyes.  Arjun, Arjun, Arjun she screamed over and over in her head.  But no sound came from her lips.  Finally she was pushed out of the crowd and feeling her knees give out she fell to the ground.  Sobs ripping through her.

She could hear her name being yelled.  Over and over.  But through her pain and anguish it took a while to process.  "Arohi!" Arohi stopped, and slowly standing up she stood motionless as if not believing what she was hearing, and then qucikly she turned around.  "Arjun?" she whispered seeing his face as he pushed through the crowd.  He now stood infront of her.  "Arjun." she said again and then with a sob, she threw herself into his arms.  Arjun caught her and held her close.  "Ssh, Arohi" "It's fine" "I'm fine." he said as she sobbed and sobbed into his chest.  "I thought, I thought" she said still crying, not able to finish her sentence.  "It's okay."  "I'm right here." he said against her hair.  He held her tight, comforting her.  "I saw your jacket."  "And I thought it was you."  she said in between sobs.  "Well it wasn't."  " I saw the accident happen and dropped my jacket when I ran to help."  "I'm fine, I'm fine." "See?" he said lifting her chin to look at her.  Arohi looked at his face, memorizing every feature.  Finally allowing herself to believe that he was okay.  Her own face drenched with tears.  "I was so scared." she said with another sob.  "I know baby, it's okay."  "I'm fine" he kept repeating to reassure her.  He led her away from the crowd and seeing Neha and Arvind he motioned for them to give him and Arohi a minute.  Arohi couldn't seem to stop crying.  The lump in her throat instead of getting smaller seemed to have gotten larger.  Away from the crowd, Arjun sat down on a bench and pulled her into his lap.  "Shh baby, it's okay, please stop crying." he said soothingly.  Arohi hiccuped as she tried to calm herself down.  They sat that way for a while.  Arohi in his lap with her arms wrapped around his neck and her head on her shoulder. Arjun's arm's around her holding her close. Arohi finally was able to calm herself down a little bit.  "Better?" he asked kissing her forehead.  Arohi nodded with a little hiccup.  "Nothing happened to me."  "I'm completely fine."  he said.  "But just think if had been me"  "You wouldn't have to worry about that divorce anymore, you would have been rid of m..."  Arohi sat up and quickly covered Arjun's mouth with her hand, not letting him finish his sentence.  "Don't ever say that again!' she said angrily.  Arjun's eyes twinkled.  "As she lifted her hand." he kissed her palm.  "Bad time for a joke huh?" he asked with a smile.  "I was just trying to lighten the mood a little."  "Well don't try!" Arohi said putting her head back onto his shoulder.  "If something had happened to you, I ,I would never have been able to forgive myself."  she said as another tear slid down her face.  "Nothing happened to me Arohi now please no more crying. " "You don't look good crying."  "You look best when you're smiling, or laughing, or even plotting and torturing."  Arohi hit him, but a small smile did appear on her lips.  "As much as I'd love to stay in this position I think we better get up." "Your sister and jiju must be getting worried."  Arohi nodded suddenly feeling self conscious, she quickly got off Arjun's lap.  Catching her around the waist he pulled her back towards him.  Her back hitting his chest.  His arm snaked around her, with his hand settling on her stomach.  "I'm not going anywhere Arohi."  "Not for a very long time"  "I have someone very very important to live for and I have no plans of leaving her." he said softy into her ear.  Arohi's mouth went dry and she gasped as she felt his arm tighten and pull her closer.  "I love...the fair."  he said letting her go. "Thanks for inviting me."  Arohi turned around and stared at him, breathing as if she'd just run a marathon.  Arjun's eyes twinkled as he stared back at her.   Grabbing her hand he led her back to her family.   She got teased about her emotional breakdown but as she glanced at Arjun and then looked at their entwined fingers she thought about how she'd felt when she thought he'd left her.  She had wanted to die too.   She couldn't imagine her life without him now.  The pain and anguish she felt in those few minutes was worse then any pain she had ever felt in her whole life.  A life without Arjun wasn't a life anymore.  As she looked up into his laughing face  she finally admitted to herself that...she was in love with Arjun Singhania.
