Kill the Lie - Scene Excerpt

FADE IN: 

INT. CONSERVATORY - DAY 

Sophia and Bethany walk together into the conservatory. 

BETHANY 

You can't seriously believe he's

 right, can you? The guy's a lunatic. 

Everything he was saying about your

 dad? It's just ridiculous. 

Bethany looks over, expecting a reply. It doesn't come. 

BETHANY (CONT'D) 

It's not true is it? 

Sophia bites her lip. They sit down on opposite sofas. 

BETHANY (CONT'D)

 Is it?

 SOPHIA

Some of what he said, it made sense.

 There are things I don't know about

 dad - couldn't have known about. Maybe

 he did work for some dodgy people,

 maybe that's how he met mum. Maybe

 they killed her. I don't like that

 Micheal guy either, but I - I don't 

know.

BETHANY 

(Leaning forward)

 Look, I never knew your dad, but you

 can't believe everything that guy says

 about him. We don't know who he is. We

 don't know anything about him. We only

 have his word that he worked with your

 parents. For all we know, it could

 just be a scam. What was that note he

 gave you, just before we left?

SOPHIA

(Frowning)

 You saw that?
