Q: WHAT IS THIS ORGANIZATION OR GRAPHIC ACADEMY ABOUT?
A: This organization is about bringing our community together again, helping the development of designers no matter what the level of experience and talent (you always have more to learn), and just having a fun time while also pushing you out of your comfort zone.
Q: WHO ARE THE FOUNDERS?
A: Our founders include @jinstolemyhearteu & @wifidisconnected on Wattpad. The co-founders, currently yet to be hired, are like the second-in-command, and help lead this organization.
Q: HOW DOES APPLYING WORK?
A: So when we first start accepting members we will accept; co-founders, a secretary (have one joined already), the counselors, and teachers. To apply for being a student in a class will have to wait until teachers and types of classes are confirmed to avoid confusion and difficulty.
Q: WHAT DO I DO WHEN ACCEPTED?
A: I'd advise you to contact the main founders yourself after confirmed accepted so they can send you the Discord chat link as they might forget with all their other management jobs. Please note that only the two main founders can add people, and links are only accessible for 24 hours for safety and security reasons.
Q: CAN I APPLY FOR MORE THAN ONE JOB? LIKE A CO-FOUNDER AND TEACHER?
A: You may apply for up to 2 jobs, like co-founder and student for example, however its your own responsibility to do them both.
Q: HOW MANY STUDENTS AND STAFF WILL BE SELECTED?
A: We will have (as of now), 2 main founders, 4-5 co-founders with divers time-zones to help manage the academy at different periods of the day, 1 secretary for bonus management of the account but with less power (make sure its all okay/stable, etc.), 10 counselors (for minimal extra help, a resources hub, etc.), 10-15 teachers, and the number of students per class is yet to be determined but definitely will be about 20 or lower per class.
Q: WHAT MAJOR REQUIREMENTS ARE NEEDED?
A: You really need to have access to Discord (via app or website) to be in the academy, but if you absolutely can't get it wattpad-only members are optional too but probably further in the future. Other than that just be a graphic designer to be considered.
Q: WILL THIS BE ON WATTPAD TOO OR ONLY ON DISCORD?
A: We will have a little bit of teaching given on Wattpad, but since were not giving the wattpad password to anyone but the higher ups (founders and possibly co-founders) for the most part, were having our actual system of classes and such on Discord. Only a tiny fraction is available on Wattpad.
Q: WHAT TYPES OF CLASSES MAY YOU OFFER?
A: We will try to offer classes from apps like PicsArt to a program like Photoshop, but we dont have confirmed classes as of now until we know what each teacher wants to apply for and is confirmed for.
Q: HOW DOES THE LAYOUT OR ACADEMY SYSTEM WORK?
A: So each class will have a teacher about a specific program and different lesson plans on one minor subject every week about that program, assignments will be given out according to a schedule, and later after knowledge is developed on it you will have a quiz over it. But theres much more on that under each teachers tests and grades channel. Assignments will typically start on the easier side than gradually increase in difficulty. More on specific Discord channels & academy layout in the 'welcome to the academy' channel when accepted.
Q: WILL THERE BE A LOT OF COMMITMENT NEEDED? HOW DOES THE SCHEDULE WORK?
A: Not necessarily, no. We are allowing our teachers to decide personal schedules that best suit them and their class. Higher up jobs like management require more commitment obviously so those aren't as free about scheduling as teachers and such. EX: One minor assignment might be given 1 weeks time to submit whereas a bigger one like a test might be given a couple weeks to a month but this may differ per teacher.
Q: I DONT UNDERSTAND HOW DISCORD WORKS, BUT WHAT IF I DONT UNDERSTAND DISCORD, ETC.
A: If you do not understand Discord and need help on the basics but still want to join, we have a channel under the OTHER INFORMATION category on Discord when you join just for this purpose.
Q: HOW DOES THE GRADING SYSTEM WORK?
A: I wont really cover this much as its already under the tests and grades channel of each class when accepted, but basically all assignment grades, test grades, extracurricular activities for extra credit (creating the official academy theme for a month), etc. will add up to credits like in high school. Once, you have a certain number of credits, your rank goes up until you eventually graduate. If youve successfully graduated, in time you could become a teacher or even higher here if you wish.
Q: HOW DO I TURN IN ASSIGNMENTS WHEN COMPLETED WITH THEM?
A: All class assignments are submitted under 'turn in' in each class. If youd like your class' feedback before submitting your work, head to the class' feedback channel. Tests, however, are submitted by direct messaging you teacher, not the turn in channel.
Q: IM A BEGINNER/EXPERT DESIGNER. CAN I STILL APPLY AS A STUDENT?
A: Anyone of any level of experience/talent can apply as you can always learn more. In fact, there will be certain assignments where, for example, a more experienced designer is paired with a less experienced one and youre both graded on not only the assignment, but the teamwork you have shown as well. However, we will try to have classes with assignments and lessons based different ranks of experience in the future.
