Youngjae sat at the living room couch, his eyes were transfixed on the television screen. The volume was kept in a minimum volume that allowed him to hear even a faint and distant noise as he was waiting for his other half to arrive.
The clocked ticked at 7 o'clock. The streets outside were enveloped by the dark shadows of the night sky with street lights that shone over the concrete floor. Just then, bright headlights gleamed the streets as a black car drove in front of the Im residence. The sound of the garage opening was immediately recognized by Youngjae as a smile grew on his face.
He hastily stood and went straight for the kitchen as he opened the stove with a light fire where the pot filled with kimchi stew was placed. The brunet knew it is Jaebum's favorite (although there waren't any clear evidence except for the fact that he eats more every time he cooks the specific dish) and he had hoped that it was enough to relieve stress from the other.
The sound of the front door opening and keys bumping against one another echoed till the kitchen despite the distance between the two places. Youngjae then ran back to the living room with his biggest smile on his face.
"Welcome home, hyung!" He greeted. "I cooked kimchi stew. I know you eat a lot when I do. I'll take your suitcase to our room." Youngjae took the suitcase out of the other's hand carefully before running towards their shared room, hearing a low hum as he did so.
Youngjae climbed up the wooded and newly polished stairs that led to the second floor. He turned right down the hallway and faced the second door. He pushed the door opened to be welcomed by the dark room that was dimly lit by the faint moonlight the seeped through the curtains by the window beside the bed. He pressed the switch beside the door that brightened up the whole room to reveal the properties of the room.
A queen sized bed pressed on the wall parallel from the door where he stood. On each side of it are small side tables, each held a lampshade above them. The overall theme of the room was black and white, a theme chosen by Jaebum himself in which Youngjae had no protest to. The brunet was now calm with his steps as he headed for the bed and placed the slightly heavy suitcase filled with papers on the bottom part of the white sheets of the bed.
He then returned downstairs, smelling the aroma of their supper as it boiled. Youngjae rushed to it to shut it off and got 2 bowls from the upper cupboard and scooping himself and Jaebum some. Jaebum already sat in front of the dining table that can clearly be seen through the kitchen door. Youngjae can't help but smile at that. Even if the other didn't show much, but his small actions alone is able to tell more than his words.
They began to eat as soon as the table was set-up. Temporary silence filled the space between then only to be broken the Youngjae himself.
"So what happened today at the office today? Did you across uncle?" He asked.
"No."
"Oh okay." And again thick silence was soon restored. This went everyday for the whole dinner. Usually it would be a bit lighter during breakfasts; at least for Youngjae's perspective.
"Are you done hyung?" Youngjae asked when he saw Jaebum stand.
"Yeah." Jaebum answered lowly.
"Just leave those dishes there. I'll was them tomorrow." He said. "Why don't you change first hyung. I'm pretty sure you're belly is a but tight in that suit." Youngjae tried to joke.
Jaebum then left the dining room and Youngjae followed him. Although they didn't quite had the relationship they still agreed on sharing the same room and bed. They entered the peaceful room. The eldest among the two went first for the closet at the far left of the room to get more comfortable clothes before heading to the bathroom to change.
Youngjae laid on the bed and stared at the ceiling with a smile on his face. Call him crazy but the everyday thought of being with the person he loves is more than enough. Even if the other had no feelings whatsoever. Jaebum entered the room, now changed with black sweatpants and a plain white shirt. By this time, Youngjae laid with his phone on hand scrolling through Instagram. Jaebum then laid beside the younger, facing the away from the other.
As sigh left Youngjae's lips. He placed his phone on his side table before standing up heading towards the light switch to turn it off returning to bed afterwards. He adjusted under the comforter and faced the back of his husband that was motionless, probably already asleep due to the tiring day at work. His hands then travelled to his waist under the covers, letting his bod y shift closer as both males shared warmth. Youngjae leaned in towards Jaebum's ear then whispered, "Goodnight Jaebum-hyung."
Even if his vast amount of effort in displaying his affections were left unrequited, but never did once his love fakter. Never have and never will.
