Chapter 8 - The Worst Night

"So..?" Nat whispers into my ear.

"You didn't tell me it was a club."

"Bar, club same thing." He says loudly so I can hear him over the blaring music. He pulls me over to a huge guy who looks like a bouncer.

"Nathaniel?" The bouncer asks in a deep voice.

"Hey Rick!" He says, giving him a bro hug.

"What are you doing here man!" Rick asks Nat.

"Just taking my girl for drinks." He says, nodding towards me.

"Hi, i'm Callie." I say, giving him a shy wave.

"Well come through!" He says, moving aside for us to pass.

"How come he didn't ask for my age or anything?" I whispered in Nat's ear.

"Well he's a close friend of mine." He explains, dragging me to the bar. He plonks himself on a stool and I sit down next to him.

"What'll it be?" The man behind the bar asks us.

"Two redbull and vodka's." Nat tells him. I give him a big smile, how does he know that's my favourite?

"Here you go." The man says, placing the drinks in front of us. I automatically take it and sip at it through the straw, watching as Nat does the same thing. I put the drink back on the bar bench and lick my lips, tasting vodka and strawberry lip gloss. I feel someone pull at my hair and I turn towards Nat.

"Calm down, i'm taking your braid out." He says, leaning close to tell me over the music. I relax and let him take my hairband out, feeling his fingers rake through my hair and letting it fall down my back in waves.

"Better?" I ask him, he just looks at me and winks. I take my drink and begin sipping at it again, feeling slightly awkward in such a new place. Usually me and Bree would go to places we knew, it's weird to be here. I see Nat move and I turn to face him in my stool.

"I'm going to dance. You wanna come?" He asks me, motioning with his head to the dance floor.

"Nah, you go."

"Okay, no guys!" He tells me.

"No guys." I shout over the music, smiling at him as he backs onto the dance floor and starts dancing with a random chick. I shake my head and turn back to the bar, playing with my half full cup. It must be weird for Nat to be here and have to act straight. I know he looks straight and everything but it must be a bit uncomfortable, not being able to find a boyfriend. Most girls and guys would melt in their seats if he started flirting with them, he was a nice looking guy. I down the rest of my drink and get up off my stool and walk over to the dance floor. Stuff it, I might as well dance while i'm here. I squeeze through the crowded floor and find Nat dancing with a blonde girl. He wasn't looking too interested in what he was doing, but the look on her face told me different. She looked like she was about to have him for dinner. I stand awkwardly for a few minutes before I feel something tug on my hand. I whirl around and see a guy with his hand in mine, raising his eyebrows at me. He is cute, not my type but cute. He has blonde hair with brown tips and blue eyes. I let go of his hand and move closer, deciding to dance with him. He grabs my waist ruffly and pulls me so our hips are touching, giving me a once over with his eyes. We swing our hips with the music and I throw my hands loosely around his neck. We dance like that for a while before I move away and head back to the bar for another drink, knowing my forehead would be wet with sweat from dancing on the crowded dancefloor. I sit back on a stool and order another redbull and vodka, sipping at it as soon as it changes hands. I wipe the sweat away from my face with the back of my hand and take another drink. I notice the guy I had been dancing with sit down on the stool next to me and order a shot. The man behind the bar takes a few moments and then brings back the shot, slamming it on the counter and giving the guy next to me a bad look. I look over at him and watch him take his shot, breathing out sharply as he puts the empty shot glass back on the counter.
