She sat alone, tuning out the world around her with her headphones. Sipping the remains of her hot chocolate, and allowing it to burn her tongue on the way down.

The blizzard continues mercilessly, glazing the city buildings and trees with a thick layer of both ice, and snow. People busily hustled around her like rats.

She observed silently, adjusting her coat in a weak attempt to preserve the little warmth she had left.

Cold and tired, she impatiently checked the time until the next bus.

Un-expectantly, a man tapped her on the shoulder.

" 'scuse me miss" he said "but I was just walking by and couldn't help but admire just how beautiful you are."

Confused, she turned around to face the stranger "sorry what?" She said pulling out her earphones "I wasn't listening. Do I know you?" She had no intentions on trying to impress this man, all she wanted was to get home out of the cold.

"My name is Brad" he said with a smile "and I think you're beautiful"

She was beautiful, even though she herself didn't always think so. She's a mix of both black and white features with nearly flawless skin curly brown hair and a dimple on her left cheek. She is petite, and toned and quite busty for her size.

However, she rarely smiled and came across as rather unapproachable. Making it all the more surprising that Brad had started a conversation.

"Thank you?" She said eyeing him suspiciously

"in fact," he continued "I was wondering if you'd like to go out for a coffee sometime? I noticed you were drinking some earlier" he said addressing the cup still in her hand

"I don't drink coffee." She blatantly replied.

Brad smirked, obviously amused by her attitude. "Well what do you like then?" He says folding his arms across his chest.

"I'd like to be left alone please." She answered back not changing her expression.

Brad was intrigued by this woman for reasons he could not explain.

"What's your name?" He pushed "just tell me your name and I'll let you be"

She smiled smugly to herself "I'm not telling you. Now if you'll excuse me I have a bus to catch."

The public bus crawled it's way towards them, finally an escape from this January blizzard.

She fussed around her purse in search of her bus ticket. Brad just stood there, watching as the bus approached. She prayed he wasn't getting on it too.

She found her ticket and pulled it out, only to have the wind snatch it from her hand and carry it away with the storm of falling snow.
