hello, I'm Emily and this is how my life changed.
It all started when I was 16. After the incident that took place, my sister insisted on moving far away from England to get away from the press that kept following us around. Honestly I had no objections to that and neither did my mum. They suggested on moving to California, but it's not like I had much of a choice anyway. Sorry I should explain, my dad is in prison for murdering somebody. Nobody, not even me knew why he did it, though I doubt he would of ever told me, to leave me out of his plans. I'm sure it wasn't his intention, but since he committed the crime things have turned upside down for me. Only my best friend would speak to me at school anymore, and my sister who was once the most popular girl in school, felt the heat of peoples glares as well as me. My sister loved being right about things, probably a habit from being an a* student . She liked to point out a lot how my grades were just average. She was a very snobby person, a person who would judge people who are in our situation, or the school mean girl as it is more commonly known as, she was a good person deep down, she was just horrible to the people who sat on the favourite bench. Me, I'm a loner, I only really had one friend before this all happened anyway, and that's how it stayed thanks to Millie my best and only friend. I was going to miss her, but she understood that there was no way i could possibly stay here anymore with the press harassing me for answers on my father. I couldn't say what my dad did. it felt like such a betrayal thinking of him in that light. He was a goo person, i know he still is, but people don't see it. people don't believe it. My house was never really my home. I always felt like I was a guest. I felt like I didn't belong. I guess I was right. I had to pack up everything I had ever owned. But that's the thing, I had never owned something that felt like mine, like a memory, like my very own treasure. My room was filled with things I had since I was 4 because i was so lazy that I couldn't be bothered to throw them away. My room was still painted pink from when my sister once had my room, i still had the butterflies stuck around the walls surrounding me as I fell asleep. My clothes were so out of touch with my personality that it always seemed to amaze me with all of the vibrant colours painted onto the most itchy fabric ever. That's when I came up with an idea to start completely from scratch (literally when I was wearing that jumper) and finally get rid of the clothes that I couldn't bring myself to chuck away before. I quickly ran to the nearest charity shop in the town right next to my house and gave away all of my clothes and everything else. I sprinted back to my home. Just as I got home, i saw my mum waiting outside for me. Her face made it quite obvious that she had been crying. her blood shot eyes blinked and she turned around to me and said whilst biting her lip trying to hold back tears "were going to the airport now, our flight is in an hour". I didn't argue with her, I knew she was fragile and one bad move would knock her down (kind of like jenga). I looked round my house one more time said my goodbyes and finally let go. I carried my no longer heavy bag into the boot, looked away from the house, and we drove.
