A/N: Chapter 10 is up! Whoop whoop! Haha okay, so since today is Saturday and it was my turn to write a chapter, I decided to use my free time writing it instead of waiting to do it during the week when I would be busy with both school and babysitting. I don't know if you guys have noticed, but I wrote a short story focusing mainly on Luke and his girlfriend in the story. This is my writing! No one helped me write it! This was all me and I did something a little different than what I'm normally used to but that's what being a writer is all about! I think you guys should go check it out and tell me what you think of it! It's called "The Cabin"! Anyways, back to this story! Enjoy the new chapter! :)
Chapter 10: What Are You Doing Here?
School was what I would call a hellhole. We have been living here for two months now and I still haven't made a single friend. I have, however, gained an enemy. Every chance she got, she would use wisely to make sure my life was a living hell. She would make sure that neither of my brothers were around before taunting me. She knew that both Kaiden and Joshua were very protective of me, especially Kaiden. Joshua may be fifteen and younger than me but that didn't mean he wasn't proactive over his only sister.
At our last school, Kaiden and Joshua would keep any eye out for me in case any of my bullies were to come by for their daily beating. Well, they didn't really beat me, they just shoved me around in a circle and called me horrible names that I ended up believing that I was. That was another reason why we moved. Kaiden had gotten tired of the bullying after he found me all bruised and battered after things have gotten a little physical during their taunting and, despite my protests and begging, he finally told my parents what was going on. Since then, my dad had asked for a different location for his job so that we could all get a fresh start and away from my past.
"Hey loser!" Avery, my bully, called out as she stormed down the hallway, not caring if my brothers were around or not. Oh no, she was pissed.
"Hi Avery," I mumbled, avoiding all eye contact with her which made her even more mad.
"Look at me when I'm talking to you, you freak!" she yelled as she shoved me into the lockers causing me to look into her cold eyes. "That's better. Now, you can probably tell that I am pissed. Do you know why I'm pissed, freak?" she asked.
"No Avery," I whispered.
"Why don't you ask me?"
"Why are you angry, Avery?"
"I'm not angry, freak! I'm pissed! I'm pissed because I just asked your twin brother if he wanted to go on a date with me and he turned me down! Do you know why he turned me down, freak?"
I felt a cold presence beside me and I immediately knew what it was. I was too familiar with the cold substance to recognize that it was, indeed, a ghost. As for what they looked like, I didn't know but I wasn't about to look either. I didn't need to give Avery another reason to classify me as a freak just because I could see something she couldn't.
"Are you seriously just going to stand there and take her shit?" a voice that I recognized all too well asked. Michael.
I didn't say anything. I knew that if I said anything, I would definitely be the school's joke so I just kept my gaze straight on Avery and shook my head at her question.
"No, I don't Avery," I said quietly even though it was a complete lie. I did know why he turned her down. He turned her down because he knew how she really was and saw right through her little act that she tried to pull around him. Avery could obviously tell that I was lying and back-handed me across the face causing my head to whip to the side, my cheek slamming into the lockers, giving me a chance to look at Michael. He didn't look too happy, though. In fact, he was fuming.
"Why aren't you doing anything?! Stand up to this bitch!" he yelled. In other words, he meant do something or I will.
"Hey!" Kaiden's voice boomed down the hallway causing Avery to jump away from me. I slowly slid down the lockers and looked to see that both Kaiden and Joshua were running towards me. Great. "Are you out of your damn mind?!" Kaiden yelled at Avery as Joshua came to my aid, looking at the damage done to my face.
"Mom and dad aren't going to be happy about your busted lip and bruised cheek," Joshua sighed as he helped me up.
"I know," I mumbled, walking away from the sight and going to the girl's bathroom to clean up.
"What the hell?! Why didn't you stand up for yourself?!" Michael yelled at me as I cleaned up my busted lip.
"Why do you care? And what are you even doing here anyways? I thought you were bound to that house!" I said, making it obvious that I was avoiding the subject.
"Stop avoiding the question and answer me!"
"What do you want me to say Michael? That I was scared? That I didn't know how to? Because if that's the answer you're looking for then there it is! I was scared and I didn't know how because it's not the first time that I've been bullied! Are you happy now?!"
Now, I didn't care if someone walked by and heard me "talking to myself." I was too worked up to care. I didn't even realize that I was crying until I turned back to the mirror to finish cleaning up and saw the tear tracks on my blotched cheeks.
"I'm sorry," Michael mumbled before disappearing back to where I assumed would be my house, which I have decided that I would be heading to, also, after I was done cleaning up. I didn't care what my parents would say, I needed to get out and away from Queen Avery and that's exactly what I was doing.
