Chapter One

Luke's P.O.V

"C'mon, Luke, up now, you are not being late on your first day"

I groaned as my mums voice called up the stairs and rolled out of bed slowly, I dragged myself up and to the bathroom, dodging the boxes littering my floor, I showered quickly and styled my hair, the rummaged through some boxes for some clothes, I ended up grabbing the first thing I saw, which was a Nirvana t-shirt and black skinny jeans.

I walked downstairs to see my mum cooking

"Do you want breakfast?" she asked

I shook my head

"Nervous?" she asked

"A little" I answered truthfully

"Don't be" she smiled walking up to me "you'll be fine, they'll love you"

I smiled and hugged back

"I won't be home for you after school tonight, but Ben and Jack will be and your dad should be home by seven"

I nodded "I'm gonna go now, bye mum, love you"

"Love you too, Lukey"

I smiled and made my way to school, which took me around fifteen minutes.

By the time I had got my schedule and found my locker the bell had rang, but me being me, I got lost

"Do you need some help?" a voice asked from close by

I jumped slightly and turned to see a a boy with curly hair and cute dimples

"Yeah, please, I can't find anything on this" I said waving my schedule about

He grinned and grabbed it "hmm lucky you, we have the same class, what a coincidence, I'm Ashton Irwin by the way"

"Luke Hemmings" I smiled

"This way" he said leading me to a room just down the hall, I shook my head at my own stupidness or not seeing it

"Mr Irwin, you're late" the teaches shouted

"Sorry sir, I was helping Luke here, he's new" Ashton said gesturing to me

"Okay then, take a seat, Luke" I nodded and headed to the middle next a boy with black hair and dark brown eyes

"Hi, Luke right?" he asked

"Yeah, what's your name?"

"Calum Hood" he smiled "so you've met Ashton?"

I nodded

"God help you, he's a piece of work that guy"

At that moment Ashton walked passed and slapped the back of Calum's head

"Oh and he's also my boyfriend" Calum smiled at Ashton

I grinned "cute couple"

Calum grinned "why thank you"

Lunch came quickly and I was luckily finding my way around, thanks to Ashton and Calum

"Hey boys" I smiled

"Hi Luke" the said in unison

"Not creepy at all" I mumbled

I sat down opposite them and looked around the canteen, there were the obvious tables, jocks, cheerleaders, geeks, one big cliché school, one person stood out, he sat alone in the corner of the room, he had lilac hair and he was drawing, out I curiosity I turned to the boys.

"Who's that?" I asked, nodding towards the boy

Calum's smile fell "that's Michael Clifford, he's an old friend of ours"

"What happened?"

"A lot, four years ago he stopped talking, stopped smiling, he stopped being him, he lost his family in a fire, and he saw no reason to talk, well except to his foster sister, he pushed everybody away and now he avoids me and Ashton, he likes to draw, he always did"

"Do you try to talk to him?"

"I did for the first year, but after a while I gave up, I couldn't keep trying"

"Oh" that only added to my curiosity about the boy.

After the school I headed home and continued to unpack, leaving Ben and Jack to argue of TV channels.
