I'm Not a Hero

The Attack

Jack steps in front of Aure and raises his hands. He’s about to close his eyes to wait for the impact, but a force field is created. He doesn’t know how he made it, but he did and that’s all that matters. The darkness hits it and pushes it into Jack. He stumbles a little, but remains unscratched along with Aure. Now he finally sees what the sisters look like.

Adriana has pale skin which is the only light part about her. Her eyes are black with dark heavy makeup and black lipstick. Her outfit consists of a sleeveless and tight top that goes up her neck, short shorts, high socks, and boots. All of these being black. If Jack had seen her on the streets, he might think of her as some kind of prostitute that’s actually pretty or some chick that’s about to go to some rock concert to show off her body.

The older sister, Teanna, looks the complete opposite of her sister. She has light purple hair and eyes. She is wearing a long sleeve purple dress with black tights underneath it. The dress is plain besides the piece of cloth that she has hanging off that is the same color as her hair. She has this classy feel to her. It’s obvious that she is the leader out of the two of them. The other thing about her is that she has a panther cub in her arms.

Adriana giggles and fires another blast of darkness at Jack and Aure. This one comes at them faster, and Jack has barely enough time to grab ahold of the light haired girl and jump out of the way. She gets out of his arms and takes the rods out of the straps on her legs that Jack had just now noticed. She twists the rods into place to form a silver staff. Once it is complete she is using it to push slices of air at them, but Teanna is fast as uses her powers to dodge them and for her sister to dodge them since she is the one holder her up.

When Adriana fires at them again, Teanna uses her mind to keep Aure in place, so the attack will be a success. Jack reads her mind though and jumps in the way of the attack. He screams in agony as the attack hits him dead on. Adriana erupts in a fit of giggles and is about to shoot another at Jack to finish the job when a ball of fire almost hits her.

Alex and Narida comes running out of the woods and towards Jack and Aure with Tierra, Zack, and Rian behind them. Alex knees down by the wounded Jack to see how badly he is injured. The force of the attack is what knocked him out a little. He’ll definitely have bruises all over his chest, but he will live. Alex looks up at the sisters with fire in his eyes, but a hand on his shorter stops him. He turns to look at the owner of the hand to find that it is Tierra.

“We can’t take them now,” Narida tells him as she makes her way over to Jack.

“Why not?” he screams. “There are more of us than there is of them. It would be easy!”

“No, it wouldn’t be. Trust me. They are only toying with us now. Jack, Alvie is going to open up some of your power to create a force field and a portal to some place else. I think they used Thanatos to find us. He must have followed us here.”

Adriana giggles again. “How’d you figure out that my bat followed you guys here? Oh well, it’s not like you need to answer when we kill all of you slowly.” She giggles even more before shooting another blast of darkness.

“Now Alvie!”

Jack screams in pain as Alvie unlocks more power than Jack can handle on his own and uses that power to create a powerful force field and portal. Alex picks up Jack with the help of Tierra. The gang go into the portal to a place unknown. As soon as they are though, Jack passes out from the pain of it all.

They find themselves in an alleyway in an area that is poor and worn down, but not the kind where there is crime all the time. This is the kind of area where no one lives anymore. It’s completely abandoned. Of course the conscious members of All Time Low have no idea where they are at, but Tierra and Aure have no idea as well. However Narida knows exactly where they are. It’s surprising how something that could make them go any place in the world just happens to take them to where it all started for Narida.

The mentor starts walking off in a direction, so the rest of the group follow behind them. Eventually they come to a boarded up building. Narida starts to kick at the wood to try to get it to break before just have Zack break it for her. They have no idea what this building is at first, but as soon as they walk in, they know exactly what it is.

This building is an old dojo, and not just any dojo. It’s Narida’s old dojo.

“This place brings back so many memories of bright students. Heck, I remember learning everything I know from here myself,” she says as she walks into another room to grab something. She comes out with a few pillows and a blanket. “There is more pillows and blankets in the back. I figured that you guys can grab them later. These are for Jack since he needs them now.”

They lay Jack on the pillows as soon as she sets them down. When he is down, she takes his shirt off just to see how bad he is. Narida can already sense that there is a few cracked ribs just by feeling it with the water in Jack’s body. Alvie teleports Aure’s bag from where it was back on the bus to in front of Narida.

“Luckily, Adriana is having a fit about not getting to kill us, so she hasn’t looked on the bus yet. Teanna was too busy trying to locate us again but failing,” he tells her.

Narida nods and takes the book out of the bag. She flips to a certain page and starts to say a spell under her breath. A glowing light appears on Jack’s chest and soon enough it disappears. Narida grabs her side and starts to breathe carefully.

“I transferred Jack’s cracked ribs to me. He needs to be in better health than me anyway,” Narida says as she gets up carefully.

“How is that even possible?” Rian questions.

“The spells in the book are from an ancient language and will only reveal what they say to the reader after so long. I haven’t been with the book long enough to unlock a healing spell, and I may never, but I have been able to read a spell that transfers injuries. I don’t need to be able to move dramatically in order to teach you. I can just move my hand to shoot some water at you. Jack needs to be able to move in order to learn, which he hasn’t even started yet.”

“Are you going to be ok?” Tierra asks.

“Cracked ribs heal in a month or two. I can feel that they are not bothering any of my blood vessels or organs.”

“How can you do that?” Alex says.

“Well, the human body is mostly made of water. I can feel that water, and by feeling that water, I can feel the outlines of injuries.”

“That’s pretty cool.”

“There is a lot of ‘cool’ things that your powers enable you to do. You just have to experiment enough to figure out what they are. Anyway, I’m going to get some painkillers since this hurts like a bitch.”

“Why is there all of this stuff here?”

“Well, I used to stay here all the time to practice. When I got my powers, my sisters and I stayed here. The whole neighborhood knew that if they messed with us, we’d kick their ass, so they’ve never bothered this place. Besides, I don’t think anyone even knows that I have canned food and medicine in here. I made it seem like I took everything out and that I was still watching the place, which I kind of had. Now, I’m going to go get me some medicine before you start asking all these questions that I don’t want to answer.”

Narida gets up and exits the room with the thought of her sisters on her mind.
