Marinette sat in her lounge chair on her balcony, wrapped in a pink blanket with a sketchbook in her lap. She frantically scribbled a drawing to calm her nerves as she waited. It was a cool night in the city of Paris and a certain cat was on the prowl.
Chat Noir ran amongst the rooftops, quick and agile while blending in with the night. After a serious incident involving an Akuma took place moments before, he wanted to make sure his Princess was okay. After years of fighting Akumas with his lady, he still kept a watchful eye over Marinette.
Before Chat reached the familiar bakery he stopped and plucked a rose from a bush, riding it of the thorns that covered the stem. Once he arrived on the roof he quietly sat in the dark and watched Marinette. Her skin looked like ivory in the moonlight as he watched her chest rise and fall.
"Seems kind of chilly to be out here this late at night Purrrinces," Chat Noir purred as he bowed to kiss Marinettes hand. She smiled and brushed back a strand of his blonde hair. "Are you okay Marinette? That Akuma attack was pretty nasty."
Marinette smiled and scooted over on her chair, patting the space next to her. "I'm fine Chat, it's not the first time I've been involved with an attack. Heck , I once went on a date with an akumatized victim," she giggled at the memory of the Evillustrator. The unamused expression on his face made her realize that he was more concerned than she thought. Marinette did her best to clear her throat, "Chat, you and Ladybug have been protecting this city for years. I trust you and
think I can handle myself," she smiled and nudged his shoulder. "But thank you for checking in on me. My nerves were a little bit of a wreck, I was worried about you." Unbeknownst to Chat, by the time she was able to transform into Ladybug and cleanse the Akuma the timer on his ring began to beep. He was gone before she had the chance to see if he was okay.
Chat presented her the rose, his heart raced to know that his Princess was worried about him. "You know my lady and I will always be here to protect you. There's no need for someone as sweet as you to worry about a tomcat like me. During a fight. I would rather it be me then you who gets hurt. You are much to precious," He tucked the rose behind Marinette's ear. Frustration contorted her face as she reached out and pulled him close.
"Please Chat, don't take hits for me. I know you're a hero and it's your job to keep us safe. I wouldn't be able to live with myself if something happened to you, Kitty." She leaned in a rested her head on his shoulder.
He began to gently rake his claws through Marinette's hair soothingly. "I never knew I meant this much to you Princess," Chat whispered looking down into her sad blue eyes. "I can't say I'll stop taking hits, I will always protect you before myself. If it makes you feel better, I will be more careful. Don't worry about Ladybug and I. Keeping you and her safe is my top priority," he sighed leaning back in the chair.
Marinette took this opportunity to snuggle up into his shoulder. Taking in the comfort of his body heat. "You still love your lady huh? After chasing her for all these years ?" She asked while pulling the blanket over the both of him. He was soft despite the leather suit and she loved when they had the opportunity to snuggle.
Chat smiled as he pulled Marinette closer. He could see her breath fog the cold air as she breathed. "I will always love Ladybug no matter how old I get. We've grown together since becoming hero's. So she will always have a place in my heart but...."
Marinette could feel her heart rate pick up as she turned her head to catch a glimpse of his green eyes. "But what Kitty," she asked as he smiled sweetly at his Princess.
"I have spent so much of my life chasing someone who is out of my reach." He shifted his weight so they were face to face. They stared into each other's eyes. Enjoying the moment they were sharing. "I have been blinded by my love for her that," he brushed a clawed hand across her cheek. His touch sent shivers down her spine. Chat placed his lips by her ear and whispered. "I lost sight of who's been next to me all along. I am 23 years old, I'm old enough to be committed to someone who actually loves me back." He looked up at Marinette and instantly panicked when he saw that her face was bright red. Thoughts of her not feeling the same way began to plague his mind as he tried to think of a way to get him out of the messed he had made.
Before Chat could make a rash decision Marinette grabbed his bell and pulled him into a kiss. Shock coursed through his body. He was amazed that after all these years he was finally kissing his Princess. It only took seconds before he overcame his feelings and kissed her back.
Electricity sparked in their veins as Chat entangled his claws into her midnight blue hair. He wanted to be consumed by the sweet strawberry taste of her lips.
Marinette placed her hands on his chest and pulled away before he had a chance to protest. "Chat...this is wrong," she peered up into his eyes that were full of lust. "I know you will never be over Ladybug," she slid a hand up to cup his cheek. There was a rosy glow around the mask. "Chaton...you know I like Adrien."
Chat leaned in close enough so Marinette could feel his breath on her neck. "Princess," he spoke with a low and husky voice and intertwined her fingers with his own. "Ladybug will always be important to me.. But you, you're something special. She doesn't love me like you do....and I've always fancied you." Marinette's heart was beating out of her chest as she hung on to every word he said. "You know...Adrien and I might be more alike then you think."
He could feel her stiffen as she shot up to look at him. Chat pulled her into a kiss before she could get a word out. She sighed as he brought her in closer to his warm body. Her fingertips were like ice. It finally dawned on him that Marinette had been waiting outside in only a sweater, black leggings, and socks.
As much as Chat didn't want to, he broke the kiss and pulled away. "You must be freezing Mari." He said as she quickly pulled her hands away and wrapped them around herself.
"I-it's okay, I don't mind the cold," her face was flushed as she turned her gaze away. Seeing her stutter as she did around Adrien made a smile curl along his face. He quickly took the pink blanket and wrapped it tight around her shoulders.
"As much as I admire your resistance to the cold, I don't care if you don't mind." Chat placed a gentle claw on her cheek and she leaned into the leather. He brushed her cheek with his thumb. Her skin was so smooth and he could almost count the freckles scattered along her nose. "I don't want you getting sick because of me, Mari."
He stood up and swiftly pulled Marinette to her feet. She fixed the rose that was tucked behind her ear as she blushed at him. "Go inside
Princess," he said in a soft tone. "I really hate to do this, but I must bid you farewell."
She placed both her hands on his shoulder and stared into his beautiful green eyes. "C-can you come back tomorrow? I want to see you again." Marinette could feel her face heating up as she stuttered.
Chat chuckled and leaned down to whisper in her ear. "For you my dear, I would do anything," he placed a light kiss on her cheek as he smiled and leaped over the balcony railing.
"Wait!" Marinette cried running to reach for his hand before he had the chance to leave her in the dark. Chat nearly slipped in shock when she pulled him back to the balcony and kissed him once again. He gasped in confusion but quickly pulled her in closer to deepen the kiss. They both knew that it was wrong. That they were once in love with other people. But at that moment nothing else mattered except for his lips on hers.
After a few minutes, they both slowly pulled away, looking at each other through heavy eyes. "Wow," Marinette sighed trying to catch her breath without Chat noticing.
"I never want this moment to end," he whispered while slowly brushing his nose against her own. Marinette giggled at the sweet gesture. "Never would I have guess that I would be swept off my feet by a Princess. Yet, I am afraid I must go. Parting is such sweet sorrow," Chat said pulling away. Marinette raised an eyebrow at him.
"Are you trying to serenade me with Shakespeare, Romeo?" Marinette giggled some more as he smirked at her.
He extended his baton and leaned in one final time. "Only for you Princess," he placed a kiss on Marinette's knuckles. "This is where I bid you a beautiful farewell, adieu." Chat blew her a kiss with two fingers before disappearing into the night.
Leaving Marinette alone and blushing alone and wrapped in her blanket on the balcony.
