"Come on Jay!" Dick called to his little brother. Dick had recently taken the persona of Nightwing. He hadn't had any public appearances yet so the news hadn't caught onto another hero but he was only doing it to pass his Robin mantle to Jason. Jason had been training for months and the past few had been in the field. Honestly they all were surprised he was as good as he was at the job, albeit, he was violent, but still got it done with no casualties.

"I'm coming!" Jason yelled back as he sprinted across the buildings, "These pants are giving me a wedgie though!" Nightwing glanced back to see the young Robin trying to fix the tight black pants that accompanied the Robin uniform.

"Hey! I'll have you know I've gotten many complements on those over the years," Nightwing said with a smirk as he waited for Jason to catch up.

"Sure," Robin responded.

"We've got to be back to the cave before Bats knows we were out," Nightwing said and sped up his pace.

20 minutes later

"Suspended? Why?!" Jason exclaimed.

"You both were out against my orders. You could have been in serious danger. I will go out alone tonight," Bruce said firmly. Dick grumbled but started upstairs as soon as Bruce had left.

"Coming?" Dick asked Jason and gestured to the stairs.

"I think I'm just going to wait here for a while. See if he comes back and needs help," Jason said.

Dick nodded and sent Jason a smile, "Goodnight Jay. Love ya."

"Love you to D," Jason responded, spinning himself in the chair at the Batcomputer.

Several minutes after Dick had went upstairs Jason saw the printer spark to life. An article printed and Jason picked it up. "Joker escaped? B must have had the computer set up to print articles like this," Jason said. He looked towards the stairs about to call for Dick or Alfred but stopped. He can handle a clown, he reasoned with himself. In minutes he had his uniform on and was watching the security footage from down the street from the prison.

"Gotcha," Jason smirked as he plastered his mask onto his face and slipped out of the cave, leaving the article on top of the keyboard.

Dick rolled over in bed, an ill feeling in the pit of his stomach, and glanced at the clock. "He should get some sleep now," he muttered and stood up, walking to the cave.

"Jason?" Dick called, "Jay?" He spotted the uniform case empty and ran over to the computer. Dick almost shoved the article to start typing when "Joker" caught his attention. "Oh God," he muttered as he realized what was happening. In seconds he was sprinting to throw on his Nightwing uniform and was speeding from the cave on his motorcycle, already trying to get in contact with Bruce.

"I'm on my way to the warehouse," Batman said minutes later once they had discussed the situation.

"I'll get there faster," Dick said as he spotted it off in the distance.

"Do not go in without backup," Bruce ordered.

Dick ignored him and continued towards the warehouse. As he skid to a stop in front if the building he heard Bruce start to say something from the comm. Dick didnt hear him as he suddenly was hit by a blast and blacked out.

When he woke up his world was blurry and his head pounded. He heard Bruce in his ear and assumed he had only been out for a couple minutes. The voice in his ear was making his headache even worse and against rational judgement he pulled the comm out of his ear.

Stumbling to his feet, Nightwing took in the area around him. The building was in flames, practically a crumbled mess on the ground. He slowly walked over the rubble of the building, his only thought being of Jason, his brain not working enough to tell him that even if he did find him it wouldn't be in the best condition.

When he finally saw him, pinned under rubble, beat and bloodied, Dick stumbled over to him and fell beside him. "Jay," Dick said, "Jason please." Tears started flowing down Dick's cheeks and he fell flat on his back, looking up at the stars, his sight growing fuzzier than before as he realized how much damage he had sustained from the blast despite being outside. "Jay, please," Dick muttered again and again until he passed out, holding Jason's ever growing colder hand in his own.

That's where Bruce found his sons.
