"What if James Dean walked right up to the counter and told you to take action and make your dreams real, take action as if you'll die today!" Rosie said, she has always been a die hard James Dean fan and maybe a little over dramatic. The coffee shop became fairly desolate after the morning rush of eight o' clock. Rosie and I took this time to drink coffee and talk about James Dean, hoping for a second that one day our dreams will come true. The summer heat blasted through the front store doors when Dean came through. His dark black hair soaking up the sun's heat and his light brown eyes popped when they met my own dark brown ones. "Hi sweet-pea, how's the business holding up?" he says while walking and taking a seat next to me. "It's been good. Was really busy this morning; as always." I reply, and he gives me a kiss on the cheek. Dean has been a good friend of mine since our freshmen year of high school, until he started dating the well known model of our town. Soon enough they broke up and Dean and I started talking again, but then talking turned into something else and here we are sitting in the only coffee shop around town dating for four years now. He means the world to me, always has.
We sat around and Rosie went on and on about James Dean and how she wishes if she were part of his era, not stuck with this non romantic iradical era we've moved into. Dean and I laugh with her and every now and then a customer would come into the shop, having me leave the conversation to make an espresso or heat up some food. After an hour Dean left the coffee shop leaving Rosie and I to ourselves, saying he has some errands to run. " That was weird." Rosie said to me. "What are you talking about?" I replied, Rosie always throws things out of proportion.
"Dean, he has 'business' to attend to, you and I both know fully well he doesn't have business to attend to."
"Rosie you always do this, he's not doing anything, he has a life, which 'means he has business."
"Whatever, I'm just saying, he's a fishy character. Like, no boyfriend is that great." Rosie pulls a cherry lollipop from the jar, which is only for the customers, and starts to unwrap it.
The sun starts to fade away around five o'clock before closing. The decorations for halloween outside start to blow around from the upcoming storm we've been expecting for a week now. I've always loved halloween, I truly wish if I could live every day in the days of October. The dishwasher screams at me, and in the back I can hear Rosie spurt a startling scream. Laughing it off I open up the dishwasher and start to put the dishes back to where they belong. "Hi." a customer says behind me. It was a deep voice, one that sent shivers down my spine. "I'll be with you in a second, gotta put these back where they came from!" I reply to the customer. The man laughs, sending more shivers down my spine. I turned around and was struck by lightning when I gazed into his deep blue eyes. My heart tightened and started accelerating, 'what is going on, it's just a guy, nothing more. You have a boyfriend'. "Sorry about the wait..." I pause, noticing his gracious smile and straight white teeth. "Uhm. What can I get started for ya'!" I ask the man. He had long dark brown hair, maybe a foot taller than me, and a muscular body. His hand ran through his thick hair as he let out a sigh staring at the menu. "Y'all have any, oh what are those called, it has apples in the middle of this bread?" He asks questioningly of himself. Laughing I respond "An apple pastry?" he smirks at me, laughing with me now. "Hey what's with all the loudness, I'm studying for biology final you idiot!" Exclaimed Rosie from the back of the shop. "Sorry about Rosie, she's a bit of a hoot. But an apple pastry? Would you like a drink with that or will that be all?" I say towards this mysterious man. "Oh, I'll take a dark coffee with that as well, hot please." He says staring quizzically at me. As I ring everything up on the register I reply to him "That'll be 8.50 please.". Rosie comes up to the front after he puts a tip into the tip jar, then taking an apple lollipop from the jar next to it. The man walks towards a chair and sits patiently while I heated up his pastry and made a strong brew of coffee.
