Story:
Chu Lian somehow transmigrated into the novel she's been reading. Unfortunately she only read half of it. She happily getting married to the novel character's husband just like how it start in the novel. But unlike the original Chu Lian, this Chu Lian decided to be nice to her husband and live her life well as a couple going forward. Surprisingly, her husband, He Changdi, the Third Young Master of Count Jing'an treat her badly on their first night. He acted so different than the novel. He seems to hate her. She's smarter though. He want to humiliate her but she's a step in front of him.
Why He Changdi acted so different? Because he is a reincarnator himself. Chu Lian made him suffer in his previous life because she has another lover and will do anything for him. That's why he swear he won't treat Chu Lian kindly this time.
Count JingAn's family has a rule : the males can only have one wife. No concubine unless the wife can't born a son when the husband reach 30 years old. Chu Lian is a legitimate daughter of a nobel family too. No matter how much He Changdi hate Chu Lian, he can't divorce her. That's why he volunteer going to border army far away from the city just days after the wedding. (His army life is really hard. Fool him.)
When Chu Lian learned that her husband run away, she determine to live her own life well. She build good relationship with her new family, maintaining her household and open a business. She has talent in cooking. Based on her modern & vast knowledge of Chinese cuisine, her food changed people around her into foodies. lol
Chu Lian live well without He Changdi but later on, when situation at border become dangerous, circumstances brought her following her husband to the front line and save his life.

This is the last novels I read on volare before I venture to other sites (I read Da Mo Yao after this). It's still ongoing. It being updated everyday but since sometimes the chapters so short, it's sweet kind of torture. lol The last note from the translator, there are 80ish chapters left to go.
What I Like:
FOOD PORN! So many Chinese cuisine mentioned in the story and the translator teams kindly provide pics of the food.
Tsundere He Changdi. Lol. Even though he swear he won't fall for Chu Lian again, he can't help himself to always notice her.
Chu Lian is smart and kind. Although like many transmigrators she cheat a little because her knowledge is further than people around her for example in the food knowledge.
There's hidden enemy which the author keep to the latter chapters.
Side character I like is Princess Duanjia. Another tsundere around Chu Lian. They are good friend. I like the three brothers of Houde Jing'an too and CL's maidservants.
What I Don't Like:
I don't like how the novel treat Dalang's wife. Her personality is like that but I feel she's not a bad person. Sadly she keep her problems to herself and make mistakes because of that. If only somebody actually reach for her, make her voicing her insecurity and reassure her of her worth, I think she still can be save. The story kind of forcing her into the corner and giving advantage to Chu Lian.
The family's internal conflict is kinda boring.
There are SO MANY characters. CL alone have 8 personal maidservants. Then there are relatives. Sometimes I forgot who's who.
I wish the author keep the character's titles in Chinese. It's more fun to me. Beside. I don't know the difference between Duke, Count, and Marquis either so it's the same if it's in Chinese or English. It's a minor thing, not really complaining.

UPDATE:
This novel translation is now completed.
All end well but not quite satisfying enough. I don't know. That's my first impression reading several chapters leading to the end.
The bad guys get punished. The big secret revealed. Those who supposed to be together do end up together. Everyone has happy ending (except the enemy ofc). It just that the last chapter feels like the author made a character lists and tell us reader what happened to them in the future.
Gonna miss this novel cos I refresh the site every day at 9 o clock to see if the page has been updated. Gonna find another novel which has fixed schedule.
