Skyler woke up with a start. Her body was drenched in sweat and her heart hammered against her chest.

Bang.

She was sprawled on the ground, blood staining the sidewalk. The puddle of blood reached her fingertips.

A woman with fiery red hair collapsed over Skyler, screaming her name.

Bang.

Skylers dark oak door slammed against her wall, snapping her back to reality.

"Time to wake up Shithead." Tim violently pulled Skyler's black curtains open.

"Who are calling Shithead?" Skyler teased, words slurred.

"Come on." He threw a ratty white towel at Skyler. "Your father wanted you up yesterday."

Skyler rolled her non-existent eyes. "Fine." She pulled herself out of her bed and shuffled into the bathroom. She peeled the sweat-stuck clothes off her unnaturally white and lanky body. She started the shower letting the water warm up as she ran her slender fingers through her ratty jet black hair.

She slid into the shower. The warm droplets of water pelted her body. This was her favorite time to think. Her father could never hear her thoughts over the sound of her humming and the water. It was an awful gift, the ability to hear others thoughts. There were some things that were just meant to be private.

Sure, half the time it was just the muddled mundane thoughts of the proxies. One would be appalled at those thoughts, but Skyler grew up with them.

Half the time she passed Candy Pop or Laughing Jack they were thinking of their latest victim. And not with remorse.

Humming the tune from her music box, Skyler pulled soap through her hair.

All Jeff ever thought about was making people "beautiful" or the last girl he had sex with.

EJ was usually thinking of how he was going to cook his latest victims kidneys.

Jane was thinking about how much she wanted to kill (choke, stab, burn, etc.) Jeff.

Ben was always droning in mentally about his video games.

That was her life. A bunch of serial killers constantly thinking of irrelevant things or something gruesome. She began to think of how her life had been before she was properly introduced to this life.

For starters, her father payed more attention to her. He hadn't been around much, but when he was the world could be burning and he wouldn't care, as long as he was with his family. Now Skyler saw him more, but wasn't payed very much attention.

She had more restrictions put on her too. She wasn't allowed to leave the house, she had a curfew, she wasn't allowed to change into her human form, and she wasn't allowed to talk to certain proxies. That wasn't even half of them.

"Skyler." Her fathers voice slipped under the door and twisted in her ears.

"Yes father?" She asked making her voice carry over the pounding water.

"My office in five." Then he was gone.

Another wonderful example of how her everyday life is.

Being "16" Skyler understood she needed to start taking care of herself, but did it seriously need to involve her father saying no more than five words?

Sighing, Skyler ended her shower. Wrapping her body in a towel she exited her bathroom and got changed. Of course she put on the normal white button up, black jeans, black blazer, and red tie.
