Chapter Two

As I entered the office I could feel this serious work vibe, decorated with plants in the corners, huge magazine covers from the best selling issues of "The Entertainer" hung on the walls inside glass cases.

"Olive Wright" I said, bending at the reception desk.

"Ms. Wright" the receptionist said throwing a bright smile, which she probably gets paid for, "Mr. Posey will join you shortly in his office, this way" she pointed at a glass cabin, you know the ones with the glasses you can't see anything inside but everything outside.

Well I see now why one shouldn't see inside his cabin as I entered in, a huge maintained table, with a comfortable rotating chair that faced right outside; a good way to keep an eye on the working of the employees, fresh flowers in a vase on the cupboard, a window that opens out facing the building lawn and a ghost sitting on it.

Wait, What?

A ghost?

"Oh my, you can see me"

"I-uhm-I..."

"Ms. Wright you're right on time" came a voice from behind

There he was, the God himself, the infamous "Mr. Edward Posey"

"Call me Ed, Ms. Wright"

"Olive"

"Right, Olive" he said with a slight wink.

Ah! I see what he did there, a pun on my last name, so he has a good sense of humor as well.

"I may ask, what will be my duty here?"

"Well Olive, I am quite thankful to you dad for showing interest in our magazine"

Damnit the distraction,

"WHAT DO YOU WANT?" I shouted at the ghost, only that I shouldn't have...

"Excuse Me?" said Ed

"Oh no no, not to you, I'm sorry, please continue"

"Anyway, your father is helping our magazine financially and it will be a great pleasure to me to have you as my intern and guide you towards a full time career in journali-"

"ENOUGH"

This dancing and jumping to get attention is getting on my nerves now.

But the confused look on Ed's face began to give me more chills than the ghost"

"I am really sorry, I guess I'm just little nervous", was the best excuse I could give at the moment.

What even Olive, get back to your senses, what about the 'I will ignore the ghosties decision?'

"Katie will show you, your desk and you're expected to work on whatever projects your team expects of you." Ed finished and opened the door for me.

Blonde hair, medium height and well dressed in short skirt, blazer and pump heels. Katie lead me to my desk, MY DESK!

"Thank You Katie"

"Your welcome, so you're the daughter of the owner of The Wright Estates?"

"Well, yeah"

"I am so delighted to work with you. You know I really adore how you're working as an intern for someone else for the career of your choice", she exclaimed

"Thank you very much but trust me my family and I are poles apart, I sometimes wonder I'm adopted." I said with a still nervous laugh

"Oh well, I suggest you manage your files and understand the various columns of our magazine explained on our site and then you can join us in working" she instructed and went off.

I saw a face hanging over my computer screen

"So Ms. Are you going to help me?"

This was the first time I was noticing this ghost. He was a guy of around 25 of age. But he looked so much different from the rest of the ghosts I encounter. He wasn't wearing worn out clothes, maybe because whether he died only few years ago or was offered clothes from people.

Well that is the thing about the dead, they can only acquire things which are given to them as offerings clothes, food, whatever.

This dude was dressed in a shirt and fitted pants, dark hair and eyes like smoke, he seemed to be belonging from a good background and I hate to admit it, He was hot!

Yes the ghost, he looked like someone a lot of girls would go head over heels about. He was beautiful and strong from his alive time working out maybe.

"Now that I have your attention, I am Jason and I would like you to help me please. You see I'm so confused and I-I think I've been around for like a year or two and-" he said in a panicking tone

I continued working,

He came closer and kept talking again trying to get my focus.

"Ugh dude, can't you see I'm at work-" I really need to learn how speak slow

As if the eyes of people staring above their desks at me weren't awkward enough, for me to do this,

"work work work work work-" I started humming, Rihanna to the rescue.

"Sorry guys, did I sing too loud? Just releasing tension."

Wow, I am a dork on the first day at office.

"Alright, see we talk after work if that seems fair?" ...I whispered at uh, Jason

"Okay thank you" he said as he walked back inside Ed's cabin maybe to sit back at his spot at the window

...............................................................................................................................................................

Actually I tried to take a leave from this new ghost after work but well where would I even escape? We will meet everyday at work. So I decided to at least listen to his story just this once.

"Well Jason so what is you story now? Why are you stuck here and not able to move on?"

Move on as I call it, to pass on to the next life, hell, heaven or wherever you go after death.

"I don't know"

"What?"

"Yeah well I don't really remember about my death or anything."

Well this was general, usually the ghost who could not find their home or family or known people didn't really remember themselves.

"How do you know your name?" I asked

"It written right here" he said while showing me a small tattoo on his left arm up a bit away from his biceps, in eh I couldn't make out what language.

"So what language is that anyway?"

"Chinese" he said

"Woah there do you read Chinese? Wait, are you from China? I can't go all the way to China to help you okay?"

"Calm down, I had it read by a Chinese spirit I met and why the hell would I be stuck in this building had I been from China?"

The ghost got a point.

"So what do you want from me?"

"Well I want you to help me find why can't I go to wherever I am supposed to be, cause apparently this spirit life isn't as fun as it seems, I'm lonely, hungry and depressed with overthinking about nothing." He said with a sigh

"Trust me, the undead life is pretty much the same, luckily you don't remember it" I laughed

"Well okay I will try to help you but on a condition, firstly you'll observe Ed for me and tell me about my crush since you get to spend alone time with him, maybe I want to make a move on us (me and Ed) and I can't promise you of any success but we will try for like 10 days"

"five months" he added

"one month" I snapped

"two months"

"Deal"

"Deal"
