"Victor, what do you ever need me for? I'm supposed to be practicing for the Free Skate tomorrow," Yuri complained as I dragged him over to the ice rink. Our heavy blades clicked against the floor.
"I don't exactly need you...right now...but as your sort of coach, I thought it was right for me to show you this new routine I put together!" I tried to hide how scared I was with a smile. If it worked or not...I can't tell.
"Vic, we've been over this...Celestino offered to help me out so you could do your best at competitions..." his voice went quiet and I slowed down to turn to him.
"I'm still here...you can't get rid of me that easily! Now can you..." I grabbed his chin lightly and then slid my thumb over his bottom lip. He seemed so tense...this wasn't him...Yuri was so calm normally. Now, he just skates to skate. To get that medal. To win. Not for love.
I pulled my hand away from his chin and tried to pull him onto the ice with me, but he stayed put. I looked him up and down then smirked.
I let go of his hand, ignoring the cold feeling, and I did a small loop before coming back to the stand still Yuri.
"If you wanna join me you can..." I winked then clicked play on my remote and started to move. Yuri didn't budge, but he listened to the music.
I had paid for Yuri's friend to make this music. It was a surprise for Yuri. The strong strings instruments complimented the quiet piano in the back.
When I met this girl, I told her to create the music about me. When I was looking for a new purpose besides skating. When I was looking for a change and a reason to do something different.
I did a triple toe loop and came down cleanly. I did a familiar step sequence that Yuri once did in his "Yuri on Ice" routine and then I did a double axel. I didn't want anything too showy. This was supposed to be meaningful.
I stopped as the music transitioned to a more...familiar tune. It was the same calm melody from Yuri on Ice. I spread my arms out wide and let my eyes catch Yuri's. He was now on the ice, but he held on to the sides for fear life.
I did the spread eagle and time seemed to slow as my eyes caught Yuri's. His hands moved away from the wall as I kept going. The triple axel was coming up next. I kept towards the sky and a flash went past my vision.
I still came down perfectly, but I stopped dancing as now I saw Yuri skating the rest of the routine around me. He did the triple perfectly. Maybe by now he realized that it was the routine he did before I kissed him.
I stood their watching as he elegantly moved, his jet black hair flew behind him. He sped pass me as he began his combo. He landed the first one but stuttered on the second and third as the song changed a little. My Melody and his Melody fused together and sang throughout empty rink.
My turn.
I skated up to him and grabbed his hands before guiding him on our same routine we did after last years season. The one where he wore that adorable blue prince outfit.
The tempo was much faster then our original song we skated to, but we kept up. I lifted him into the sky, a smile grew on his face, and as soon as he landed again, the music stopped. It paused in a peaceful chord.
My hands still remained on Yuri's waist, his hands were placed gently on my shoulders. I wish this moment could last forever.
"V-victor?" I heard a mumble. My gaze rose from the ice to Yuri's face. A line of thin tears ran down his face. My heart shattered into a million pieces. It was going to end. It's going to end. It's going to-
His limber arms moved around my neck and his face pressed against my chest. I felt a hot patch of tears sink through my shirt. He let out small, heartbreaking sobs. I pressed him closer to me.
My eyes began to sting and I tried to stop my own sobs from starting. I just didn't breathe.
"Victor?" A muffled voice murmured. I didn't say anything. I kept hoping that I wouldn't just start crying. He pulled his face away from my chest. "Victor, I missed you."
I immediately leapt forward, moving my arms to around his neck and I hugged him. We toppled backwards onto the ice, just like we did before.
"This position feels oddly familiar," Yuri laughed, tearing up again. My tears of sadness turned to tears of joy as I laughed.
"Yeah...It certainly does. Although, last time was much better..." I grinned slyly.
"And why was that?" Yuri murmured as he sat up from underneath me. I little blush spread across his face.
"I think you know why..." I whispered back. My skin felt on fire, but I managed to keep up my seductive look.
"I don't see what's stopping you." And this time Yuri raised his lips to mine. He wrapped his arms around my neck and pulled me back to the ice. We we laid there...being us.
There was no competition. There was no training. There was no rivalry or Yurio or...any other skater for that matter.
Just the things I love. The ice. The skates. And Yuri.
"Hey Vic?"
"Yeah?" I said back. As we laid side by side on the ice, the water seeping through my shirt and pants.
"What was the name of the other Melody you played?"
I smiled to myself and took a deep breath,
"Victor on love."
