I sighed. I knew I shouldn’t have acted like that, but talking about my dad puts me on edge.
I got up, and walked towards the door with my head down. Bad decision. I stumbled into something rather hard, and was about to face plant. I prepared myself to hit the ground, but it never came.
I looked up and saw Declan saved me from falling. WAIT WHAT. He was holding me around my waist. Yeah, he definitely caught me and prevented the fall.
“Oh, uh thanks…” I said as he pulled me up. He didn’t let go of me.
Mmmm, he smelled so good.
“Declan, you can-“
“How do you know my name?” He cut me off.
Shit. Screw up. “I know everyone.” I easily lied.
“You’re lying.”
My eyes popped out of my head. He’s a total stranger and he knows I’m lying?!
“No, I’m not.”
“Yeah, I know you are. I can tell when people are bullshitting me, Abrianna.”
“HA how do you know my name then, huh?” I said, rubbing it in his face.
“You’re the captain of the cheerleading squad, idiot.”
Oh yeah…
“Oh, yeah forgot. Well, gotta go, bye.” I said, but his grip tightened.
“Abrianna.”
“Yeah?”
“Nice meeting you.”
“You too,” I said.
Phew. Gone at last. I leant up against the wall and tried to calm my heart. Yeah, it was beating overtime by how close Declan was. I’m pretty sure he could hear it.
Wait what? My heart? Beating faster? Because of Declan? WOAH WOAH WOAH, he’s a stranger, WHY THE HELL IS MY HEART FREANTICALLY BEATING CAUSE I WAS NEAR HIM. No no no, that’s not why! I decided it was just because I was scared from the fall. Yeah, that’s it. I walked into third, and guess what? Declan’s in that class too…
-------------------------------------------------
The rest of the day passed by quickly. Turns out Declan’s in all of my classes. Oh joy.
I didn’t talk to Rae at lunch, she’s still pissed about the way I snapped earlier. But, I know she’ll still need a ride home from me and that she’ll still let me stay at her house for a while.
I went to my locker, got the things I needed, and headed to my car.
Wait, did I say headed to my car? I meant, headed straight into Declan.
“oomph!”
“JEEZ DECLAN, what are you stalking me now?”
“why would I wanna do that?” he replied, clearly amused.
I rolled my eyes. “I’ve been seeing you all day!”
“newsflash sweetheart, we have the same schedule and your locker’s next to mine.” He pointed to the locker next to mine, put in the combination, and opened it. “See? I’m not stalking you.”
“Oh, sorry for overreacting. I’ve just had a long day.” I told him.
“It’s cool. Had a long day, huh?”
“Yep, I just need to chill for a while.” I said more to myself than to him.
“Then, come and hangout with me later.” He told me.
