"You are mistaken, Mr. Darcy, if you suppose that the mode of your declaration affected me in any other way, than as it spared me the concern which I might have felt in refusing you, had you behaved in a more gentleman-like manner.''

She saw him start at this, but he said nothing, and she continued,

"You could not have made me the offer of your hand in any possible way that would have tempted me to accept it.''

Again his astonishment was obvious; and he looked at her with an expression of mingled incredulity and mortification. She went on.

"From the very beginning, from the first moment I may almost say, of my acquaintance with you, your manners, impressing me with the fullest belief of your arrogance, your conceit, and your selfish disdain of the feelings of others, were such as to form that ground-work of disapprobation, on which succeeding events have built so immoveable a dislike; and I had not known you a month before I felt that you were the last man in the world whom I could ever be prevailed on to marry.''

A quiet knock on my door pulled me away from my book. I sighed before putting it down and opened the door to reveal my best friend,  Elysia. She smiled brightly before walking inside.

"You skipped breakfast." She pointed out.

I shrugged. "I wasn't hungry."

"Well you better get dressed because we have to be at the fields in ten minutes." She picked up my translated copy of Pride and Prejudice. "This one again!"

"What? It's my favorite!"

She laughed and shook her head. "I still can't believe you, a daughter of Athena, are a romantic."

I snatched the novel from her hands. "We can't all be heartless children of Zeus."

Elie pointed a finfer at me. "I am not heartless! I just have better priorities than boys."

I rolled my eyes. "Whatever."

My feet lazily moved to the dresser and I grabbed some clothes, not really caring what I picked. I pulled on a dark blue t-shirt and khaki shorts. Slowly, I pulled my Auburn hair into a braid before turning back to Elie.

"You alright Soph?" Elie asked, concern etched into her voice.

"Just tired." I yawned. "I was up all night doing research for this internship that could possibly help me get into Yale."

"You shouldn't tire yourself out." She sighed. "Besides, you definitely have a shot getting into Yale."

I rolled my eyes. "Easy for you to say Miss I-Got-Accepted-To-Harvard!"

She scowled. "I didn't get accepted yet."

"Yes, but the fact that your mother is a professor there guarantees you an acceptance." I pointed out.

"I didn't ask for the help, okay?" She barked. Electricity start to spark around her.

I held my hands up. "You're right, I'm sorry."

Elie immediately softened. "I'm sorry for getting upset. It's just, you know how I feel about being handed things."

Cautiously, I reached out and softly rubbed her arm. I was shocked slightly, but pretended I didn't feel it. "Hey, let's forget about school for right now and focus on Camp, okay?"

She smiled at me. "Did I hear that correctly? A child of Athena forgetting about school?"

"Shut up!" I laughed and playfully shoved her.
