After traveling for 2 weeks, Archie finally came home. Right when he stepped off of the bus at Riverdale, he went straight to the Pembrooke, he was going to get Veronica back, no matter what it took. He knew how stupid it was, knocking on Hiram Lodge's door, asking for his daughter. He didn't care. Not one bit. He needed Veronica more than he needed to breathe.
After staring down the white trimmed door, he knocked. He kept knocking until the door swung open. There stood Hermione, Veronica's mother, sharp cheek bones and all.
"Archie."
She said it in a hushed tone. It was filled with dread and deep sorrow.
"She's not here."
"Where can I find her?"
"I'm not exactly sure. She moved out the day you left her. I suspect she's been staying at the Coopers."
"Thank you Mrs. Lodge."
"Please tell her to come home."
Archie rushed out of the luxurious building, straight to where his best friend of many years had lived. He rang the doorbell frantically. Betty answered, pulling him straight into a hug.
"Oh my god Arch, we missed you."
"I missed you to. Is Ronnie here?"
"No, she's been uh...staying at her speakeasy. Arch, you left her high and dry."
"I know, but I'm going to make it right. I'll see you later."
He arrived at Pop's Choklit Shoppe a few minutes later, out of breath from running. As he walked through the doors, a wave of anxiety went through his body. When he looked around, he notices raven hair tied tightly in a ponytail swoop by him. He watched as she set down a customers milkshake and bolt downstairs. He impulsively followed her.
Now running down the stairs, he caught himself yelling, "Veronica."
She stopped in her tracks. Slowly she turned around. He quickly noticed the tears dropping from her eyes. She walked towards him slowly, then started quickening her pace. Once she finally got to him, she started hitting him,
"How dare you come back here after what you've done to me."
Her tears were flying everywhere. After another minute of hitting him, Archie pulled her into his chest. She stayed there for a minute, until she pulled away.
"You need to leave," before he could say anything he she ascended up the stairs leaving him to take in what had just happened.
When he made his way back up the stairs, she was gone. He couldn't bring her anymore pain, so he decided to leave.
