MONSTER PEAK

I was falling...

The ground was so far below. It seems to be going on for infinity then suddenly I splashed into the cold sea and the surroundings had been shifted. I struggled to plunge out to the surface, my lungs were crying out for air. Something was pulling me down. Something strong was gripping my foot, bringing me deeper into the depths of darkness. My lungs were burning and my vision was starting to get blurry. I gave out one last breath and closed my eyes accepting the turns of my fate. I waited for the pounding pulse of my chest to stop before I caught a glimpse of a blurry figure breaking through the surface of the water. A glimmer of hope flickered inside me. It was getting closer towards my direction. I waited eagerly. Then it stopped. As if it was frightened it swam back up into the surface as sudden as it dove in.

"Wait! Come Back!" I pleaded inside my head still hoping for the uncertain miracle. My feet were being pulled back harder dragging me down below. The world is merciless. I couldn't cry. It was hopeless. Nothing could save me in these dark, murky waters.

It became darker and the water, colder. Giant kelps stood tall above the seabed and soon enough they surrounded me in every direction. My eyes adjusted to the dark, my joints felt numb. I felt half dead before I heard the sound of the water speaking to me.

"Breathe." The slurry voice demanded. I hesitated.

"You can. Give it a try." I knew I can't but my lungs were desperate for air and soon I was convinced. I let out a huge gasp for air and I was able to breathe underwater. It was unexplainable. Something so unreal was happening to me and I am completely unaware of what was going to happen next. It was silent. I scanned my surroundings searching for the unknown source of sound.

"Who are you?" My voice sounded as clear as a crystal despite being underwater. I caught a sudden movement among the kelps.

"I know a lot of things about you." The voice cackled sinisterly.

"What do you want from me?"

"It's not me who wants something from you. It is you who wants something from me, young boy." Want what? The water started to get colder, piercing into my skin.

"The chest... Bring it to me." The voice hissed. "Once you follow the flow and only then will I tell you whatever you need to know..."

The kelps began to coil on my body. I struggled free from its grasp but soon I was constricted tightly that I couldn't move. All I could remember next was darkness as I took a huge gasp of air.
