It is a long story; A long story where everything makes no sense to me but to those around me. You would not believe me if I told how an enchanted box made with witchcraft almost killed us all. It all happened at a place where it was unexpected.

Detention

A brutal after school classroom that is filled with juvenile delinquents, an assigned strict teacher, and one hour of silence. Image... getting annoyed by an irritated kid that shoots a spitball at the back of your head, eggheads threw paper airplanes at my eardrum, and after detention getting torture by high school gang members. Lucky for me, I was the first person who had entered the room and decided to sit at the back where no one will notice me. But there was something different about my aspect of what detention might be like.

When I walked into the room, there were eight desks, each one has name tags on top, and the desks were lined up in rows of two by fours. Unlike every classroom in detention hours that looks like dark, disturbed, and disgusting, this one is full of light and color. Bright grey walls filled with posters from classic literature to iconic movies to inspirational quotes. It also had four bookshelves contain extra textbooks for four English courses such as English 9, English 10, Creative Writing, and Film Literature. A brown cozy love-seat standing at the center of the classroom and facing the eight desks.

Not only did the atmosphere made me rethink about the horrifying tales of detention but I was surprised to see my favorite English teacher, Mr. Ronald Cates. He is in his thirties, guessing he was thirty-four but everyone thought he was between the age of twenty-one to twenty-five because he looked young. Well, the girls in my class thought he is a teen due to how he had styled his hair, how he dressed like us (he wore his sweater vest over his light blue button-up shirt) and had  his sleeves roll-up like how a teenager would have, he also had katchi pants and stylish tennis shoes.

Mr. Cates

Mr. Seek. I wasn't expecting to see you.

Kyle Seek

I got the detention slip during the seventh period.

Mr. Cates

How come one of my good students gets detention?

Kyle Seek

I do not want to talk about it. It is kinda embarrassing.

Mr. Cates

I understand, well you're assigned seat is at the back with a blank tag.

Kyle Seek (VO)

Blank tag? There are eight tags, six with students names on them, and two tags with no student names on them. My desk with the first tag is the second one at the back row from the left side and the other blank tag is the second desk at the front day from the right side, desk number #3. Why are there two blank tags? Did Mr. Cates put them there in case he was expecting more students to show up? Hm? More importantly, who are the six students he was expecting? I never heard of these names out of my classes: Brock Strong, Mary-Beth Hart, Robert Adams, Danielle Cruel, Ben Krulis, and Jade Chung. Who were they I asked myself?

Sitting in a room with assigned seats made me nervous because not only that I will be sitting with people that might be threatening but also might have the advantage to beat me up. I certainly hope they are not rebellious students. I know I should not worry since I was in my teacher's classroom and he can keep an eye on me in case things go crazy. But I was anxiously worried that it makes me want to bit my fingernails.
