As soon as she got home she burst into tears, collapsing on the carpet. Her parents sank down beside her and asked what was wrong.
Trying to get the words out but only sobbing, she whispered "I'm unmatchable."
They thought about that for a second , trying to think about what that meant. Their minds going down every path except the most obvious one. Once her mother's face showed that she understood, she just put her arms around Sophie and pulled her into a hug.
"Well that means no boys for a while," Grady said quietly. But not that quietly as Sophie's mom slapped him in the shoulder.
That little routine made her feel a little better. She was still going to get awnsers though, whether Mr. Forkle told her outright or not. But she new what she had to do first.
Taking a deep breath, she said goodbye to her parents and headed upstairs. While letting her bodyguards take forever in searching her room, Sophie thought about how she was going to tell Fitz about... things that happened today.
"You may go in Foster," grunted Bo. Her relationship had gotten better with her Orge bodyguard, but not by much. Tarina went back to the Troll Queen to sort out the hive found at Everglen a few nights ago.  The biggest debate had been what to do with the Level 1 trolls found inside. We couldn't kill them because they were living breathing beings but when trolls are born, they don't have any brains, only unbridled rage to kill. Trolls also age backwards so the new babies were currently in peak physical condition. All of the intelligent species seem to all have ideas on what to do, all while taking shots at each other. Politics were even worst in the almost Cities than with humans sometimes.
All of that going around in her head at the same time as how to tell Fitz that they would almost definitely be a bad match if they didn't resolve this. Sealing her resolve, she sent words to him hoping it would all be okay.

Fitz's POV
Running always cleared his head, watching the trees streak by as he pushed harder. Going up a hill and stoping to catch his breath, Fitz looked over the vast property of his home. There had been reporters and investigators of all species to come a see the hive. His parents have been trying to show that they had no idea that it was there and that they could be trusted but deep down they were just thinking about Alvar. His stupid brother ruining his family and the Vacker name.
His Eco thumped in his chest, contracting around his heart. Spasms of pain raced his ribs, putting his had over the painful spot he took deep breaths, Flori hasn't sung to his echo yet like she had done to Sophie.
Sophie. He liked her so much, he just hoped that they worked out what they were soon. When he was going to give the teal heart to her, he nearly called her his girlfriend. She was so beautiful, smart and kind. He smiled whenever he thought about her. He hoped that if she did sign up for the match, they would be each others number ones. Even though that was not very likely he could still hope.
He felt someone try to reach out to him, assuming it was Sophie.

That sent his heart facing, so did the echo. He breathed in and out but she sounded so urgent, Fitz couldn't decide if she just had some news to update him on something or she was in trouble.
He ran to the leapmaster and shouted "Havenfeild".
