I woke up to find that I was in an Infirmary room. Why was I here? Why can I not remember what happened or who I was? Just then, it felt like electricity had shot through my veins. The energy traveling through my body was so unreal. I looked around the room trying to see if anyone was in the room with me, but I saw no one. I tried to remember what had happened but nothing seemed to come to my mind. Just then, a middle-aged lady and a middle-aged old man came into the room, along with some nurses.
"Oh my god, Sweetie! You're awake!" the middle-aged woman came up to me and hugged me with a smile on her face.
"Who are you?" I asked her, puzzled.
Her smile instantly changed into a frown. The middle-aged man came up behind her and patted her on the shoulder.
"It's okay, Sarah. The doctor said that she could have Amnesia and not remember anything for a while." the middle-aged man said.
The middle-aged woman simply nodded her head and smiled as she rubbed her thumb against my cheek.
"We're your parents, Namine," she spoke softly.
"Oh. Is that my name? Namine?" I asked them, still trying to get used to the situation.
"Yes. Do you not like it?" my dad asked.
"No no, I love it. I'm just trying to remember stuff, but I can't." I told them.
"It's okay, the doctor said that it can take a while for you to start remembering stuff." my mom replied.
"Oh.." I frowned.
"If you guys don't mind, we need to run a few tests on her to make sure that she's in a good condition. It's not common that people wake up from a 10-year coma. It's truly a miracle." a nurse said while sticking a needle into my arm, drawing blood and putting it into a little tube. I didn't mind the needle since I was too freaked out by what by what the nurse had just said.
A 10-year coma? Had I been asleep that long?
"How old am I?" I questioned my parents.
"Sweetie, you're 21." my mom softly said.
"21..? That means that 10 years ago, I was 11. What happened to me?" I asked.
"Sweetie, on the night of July 25th, you were struck by lightning, twice. We had gone to the store to buy some groceries and it was dark when we were heading out. The weather channel had warned people about an intense lightning storm, but we didn't think much of it. Anyways, as we were heading out of the store, you got struck by lightning. Then about 30 seconds later, you tried to stand, but only to be struck by lightning again." my mom told me.
I was struck by lightning, twice? I guess that explains the feeling of electricity shooting through my veins.
"How am I not dead?" I asked her.
"Well, it was a miracle really. Your heart had stopped and the doctors said you were dead. A few hours later, you came back to life. Your heart started working again. While that was all good, the doctors informed us that you could be in a very very deep coma for the rest of your life." She replied.
"But here you are now, 10 years later, awake." my dad smiled.
I smiled slightly as the nurse finished up my blood work and left.
