Debra winced as she finally sat down on the sofa after finishing her chores for the day. Ever since she finished her GCSE's, and left school her mother's abuse got worse because there was no risk of people at school seeing and asking questions. There was always one question though. Why are you so skinny? She always told them it was because she had a high Metabolism, when really it was because her mum never gave her food. The only food she would get was when her mother wasn't in the house and Debra could sneak some food it would always be something small though like some biscuits or something.

It has always been like this for as long as Debra could remember. All her life Debra's mother has never cared for her, even when she was a small and innocent child. Debra had no toys. She only got food, and cloths when absolutely need them. As soon as Debra could see over the kitchen counter she was made to do all of the house chores, cooking, cleaning, taking out the rubbish, all the things a small child shouldn't be doing. She even had to tend to the garden because nobody could see because the fences were so high.

As Debra got older her mother's hatred, and neglect of her began to get physical and her mother started beating Debra never where anybody could see. Now that there is nobody to question why she had bruises there was no protection. Debra is now currently sporting a broken nose that she put back into place, a black eye and a split lip from her beating this morning before her mother went to work at the pub. The worse part of Debra's abuse though is her mother's boyfriends, her mother is known as the drug whore of the town and had a new boyfriend every two months, they are like her druggies and brutes that like to beat Debra... but they took it a step farther, and took advantage of her. Debra's mother new and let them.

As for her father she never known him, and Debra's mother never talked about him so she guessed she was a product of a drunk one night stand, she honestly wouldn't be surprised if she wasn't.

Things weren't much better back when Debra was in school. She was bullied for not having nice things and for being the emo outsider of the school.

Debra developed depression and anxiety at a young age and started to self-harm by the age of 12 and attempted suicide at age 14. Luckily she didn't succeed.

Debra does have saving grace though over the years she collected money from the back of the sofa when cleaning and eventually had enough money to buy an iPod and bought some albums of some of the band she listened to at school through YouTube. Debra had bought the CD's instead of buying through iTunes because then her mother would find out. Debra's music teacher would let her use the computers in the music room to put the music onto her iPod because she didn't have a computer at home, well that's the excuse she gave. Debra didn't have a lot of money so she only bought some of her favourite bands albums. They are Falling in Reverse, Black Veil Brides, All Time Low, and My chemical Romance. (She does like other bands but she needed to save money in case of emergency). These bands saved her life on multiple occasions and give her a little hope.

Debra sighed as the pain began to dull and looked at the time. It was 5:30 her mother would normally be home now with her newest boyfriend Kris, demanding for food to be cooked.

Just then the landline rang. Debra sighed before getting up and answering the phone. "Hello?" she answered. "Hello this is Chief Constable Roberts is this Debra Winters?" A man over the phone answered. Debra mentally groaned what's she done now? "Yes this is Debra. Is there a problem officer?" She asked politely. "I'm sorry to say this Miss Winters but your mother has been killed in a drunk driving accident." The officer said with sympathy in his voice. There is no need to feel sorry for me.... I know you shouldn't speak ill of the dead but she was a bitch. Wait who am I going to live with? "What's am I going to do? I don't want to live with Kris and I have no idea who my father is?" Debra asked with a sigh "Well we could see if your mother said anything about your father in her will." The police officer suggested Wait she had a will? I never knew that! "Let's hope I guess. When is the will reading?" Debra asked. "Well it can be as soon as you're ready. I do suggest you do it soon though so you can be in your new home." Said the officer. "Might as well get it over and done with the sooner the better. Where will it be?" Debra asked. "You can have it at the station if you'd like we will contact your mothers Solicitor because they have the document." They suggested. "That would be a huge help Chief Constable. I'll be at the station as soon as I can I don't live that fare away." Debra said. "Anything I can do to help" The Chief Constable Roberts said before saying a quick goodbye and hung up. Debra put the phone back on the stand before she headed towards her room to change into something presentable for the outside world.

Debra changed into her Falling in Reverse 'Fuck the Rest' top, black ripped skinny jeans, and tied a green and black flannel around her waist before putting on her old and battered cheap converse style shoes from Primark. Debra then grabbed her small makeup bag and headed towards the bathroom and covered her bruises with foundation and concealer, before applying eyeliner, mascara, and black lipstick.

Soon Debra was ready to head out to the police station. As she walked out of her room she grabbed her studded leather jacket and her iPod and earphones. Debra walked out of her house and locked the door and headed towards the station.

It was a surprisingly nice day in England. The sun was out and shining brightly, and there wasn't many clouds in the sky. It was a nice change from the constant cloudy and rainy days England normally had.

After a couple of minutes and a few strange looks from passers-by Debra finally made it to the police station. Debra walked up to the front desk and waited for the woman at the desk to notice her. "Hello what can I help with?" The woman asked when she noticed Debra. "Ummm... Hi Chief Constable Roberts phoned my house earlier and said he would help me with my mother's will reading" Debra explained to the woman. "I'm sorry for your loss. Is anybody with you?" The woman asked There is no need to be "No I don't know who my father, and I don't get on with my mother's boyfriend" Debra explained. "Alright I'll go get the Chief Constable for you" The woman said before getting up and heading into a different room. Debra sighed and sat down in one of the chairs in the waiting area.

Soon the woman came back with the chief constable, who gave her a small smile. "Hello you're Debra right?" Chief Constable asked. "Yes that's me" Debra replied replied quietly. She was very nervous around men because of her upbringing and how she has been treated by them. "Let's go to my office to wait for your mother's Solicitor. He should be here soon." The chief constable said as he led Debra towards his office. Debra's heart began to race Calm the fuck down! He's a police officer he won't hurt you like the rest.

After a while of sitting in his office in awkward silence the chief constable tried to break it. "So why don't you tell me about yourself" He suggested "What do you want to know?" Debra asked with a shrug "How come you don't know who your dad is?" Roberts asked. "My mother never talked about him, never so much as said the words 'your father'. To be honest I just assume that I'm a product of a drunk one night stand" Debra answered honestly. "Surely you've have asked about him?" He asked. I did when I was little it didn't end well... "My mother wasn't around much so I never asked" Debra lied.

Just then there was knock on the office door. "Enter" Roberts called out. A professional looking man walked through the door holding a breath case. He must be mothers Solicitor. "Hello you called about the reading of Miss Jo Toni Winters will" The man said as he walked into the room. "Yes we we're hoping that there is something in there about Debra's father" Roberts said shaking the Solicitor's hand. "Ahh... well first of all I'm sorry for your loss Miss Winters." The Solicitor said to Debra as he sat down opposite her.

Most of the reading didn't surprise Debra besides the fact that almost everything went to charity or to her grandparents, who Debra also has never met. She probably just put in there to look good. She hasn't talked to her parents since before I was born and I'm 16! Nothing was left to her, which she expected. At the end of the will was the surprise of a lifetime "The identity of my daughter Debra Karma Winters father is Ronald (Ronnie) Joseph Radke. He doesn't know about her existence."
