"Liv, you look amazing!" I turned around and saw Ruby clapping in her hands. With her cigarette hanging between her deep purple lips and a glass of vodka in her hand she moved between the mass of serpents and threw her free arm around me. "So what are the plans?" My best friend ask and as I shrugged my shoulders I took a sip from my tequila. "Come on, there are only two more weeks left until our senior years begin. I wanna enjoy these weeks! Live to the fullest. Especially with my man on business." She sighed and sat down on the bar stool. Ruby was dating James Fogarty for almost two years now. No one thought they would last because they are so different and Ruby was never the person to stay with the same person for long but somehow they managed. James was with other serpents on a big drug deal for a couple weeks and would return the day before our senior year would start. I finished my tequila and looked at her. "Well I heard some tourists are having a party at Sweetwater... let's check it out." "Now you're talking." Ruby finished her vodka and pulled Samira and Riley with us along the way outside. We got on our bikes and drove to Sweetwater River. As we arrived we saw a small group of ten people roasting food, drinking and dancing on music. "Look more people!" A girl yelled as she pointed at us. Smirking we walked up closer and two of the guys walked up to us. "So what are four beautiful ladies doing out here? Do you wanna join the party?" One of them asked and I smiled uneven. "There's no party unless we are here." I walked up to a guy and stole his beer. Surprised he looked up but I just smirked as I finished the beer. The others meddled with the rest as I took another beer. "You're a pretty forward one." I raised an eyebrow and turned around. There was a guy, or rather a man of twenty-three years old sitting on a rock writing in some sort of diary. "Got a problem with that?" I asked as I opened the beer bottle and took a big sip. "Nope." He replied and then went back to his writing. I walked up to him and looked at what he was writing. He raised an eyebrow at me. "Forward and curious... anything else?" I rolled my eyes and sat down in front if him, looking at the water. The moon was making the river shine brighter than a diamond. "So beautiful." I looked up and he pointed at the river. "I mean the reflection of the moon on the water... it's almost magical." I smiled softly and looked back at the lake. "Everything in Riverdale is magic." I whispered and he smiled.

We talked for what felt like hours while the others brought us food and drink between their dancing. "You want to make a walk around it?" He asked and I shrugged. "Sure why not." We stood up from the rocks and started walking. "So I know this is pretty late to ask this but what's your name?" I chuckled and looked at him. "Olivia Montgomery. But you can call me Liv. You?" "Well nice to meet you, Liv. And I'm Brandon Smith." He held out his hand and laughing I shook it. We arrived at the other side of the river and saw everyone dancing and singing on the music while the moon turned the river in a disco ball. I tugged on my jacket and smiled at the sight. Brandon stood close to me and her presence warmed me. It's funny how much we had in common and how easy it was to get to know each other. I asked him how long he'd stay but he said they would leave in a week already because of college. Brandon was studying Literature at Yale and he would graduate after the upcoming academic year. I loved books, not many people knew except Ruby, James and of course misses Fitzgerald, the librarian. He sat down in the grass and laid down. I followed his example and we looked at the stars. "So, tell me something about yourself?" Brandon sat up a bit and looked at me. "What do you want to know?" I asked and leaned on my side. He shrugged and tapped my jacket. "I noticed you all wore this jacket. What does it stand for?" I laid back on my back and stared into the night sky. "It's a symbol for our membership to the Southside Serpents. We're a motor gang." I left out the part where we're also a drug shipping gang. "Cool. Is that what the tattoo stands for too?" He softly poked my side and I looked at the spot. My serpent tattoo was uncovered and shined in the moonlight. I nodded. Then I turned to him and smirked. "Now tell me something about yourself." He laughed "Compared to you I'm pretty ordinary. When I'm graduated I'm going to work for my father's newspaper and ascend him after he gets retired. Basically my whole life is laid out for me already." He sighed and I placed a hand on his shoulder. "If that's not the life you want, then plan your own version." He looked at me with a raised eyebrow and smiled softly. "For a seventeen year old you're very wise." He tugged a lock of hair behind my ear and I lifted my head. Our eyes met and soon our lips locked too.
