Violet: What? We're really gonna cross?
Cisco: Well what do you expect us to do? Sit on our asses collecting dust? I don't think so.
Sophia: Is there any other way to get there? Do we have to cross the lake?
Madison: We should have stuck to the treeline.
Cisco noticed a house on the other side of the lake.
Cisco: There's a house on the other side. Maybe full of good shit. We gotta find out. Come on.
The group all exited the van. After being shot by one of Carter's men, Nick's gunshot wound got an infection, slowing down the healing process a whole lot. They almost had to cut his leg off. But luckily, Violet was a trained medic. So she helped an awful lot. The infection and wound had both healed. But unfortunately, the infection gave Nick a permanent pain in his leg. They considered removing his leg even though it was healed, but then he wouldn't be able to walk at all without help. So, he decided to stick with the pain. As Violet was helping Nick, they got to know one another very well. And began liking one another quite a lot. Their feelings were known to one another, luckily.
Madison: What if someone steals the RV?
Ellie: Nobody comes near here.
Ellie looked down at the ground.
Ellie: Snow fell at least a week ago. And there's no footprints that aren't ours.
Ellie's words reassured Madison a little. They began walking closer to the lake, feeling the cold breeze hit them more as there was nothing around to stop the wind.
Josh: Are we just gonna... walk over?
Violet: Maybe there's a way around.
The group all looked at the edges of the frozen lake. There was definitely no other way around.
Nick: I don't see any.
Sophia: Maybe we should just run across.
Cisco: No, Soph. Ice would break immediately.
Nick: Yeah, and I don't think I can run too fast right now.
Alexis: We need to spread out, just to be safe. Less weight the better.
The group exchanged glances.
Cisco: Who's going first?
Ellie sighed.
Ellie: I'll go first.
Alexis: Ellie...
Ellie: It's okay. I have no doubts that everyone will be fine.
Ellie walked towards the ice slowly, placing her right foot down before anything else, feeling how thin the ice was. She eased onto the ice slowly. She slipped a couple of times before learning how slippy it was.
Ellie: Woah. Little slippy. But it's okay. We can do this. Someone follow me.
Alexis went to walk on the ice but Cisco pushed past her before she could go.
Cisco: I'll go next.
Alexis nodded, appreciating Cisco's will to go before her. Shortly after Cisco began walking on the ice, Alexis joined. And then Joshua, Madison, Sophia, Nick and Violet.
They walked slowly and light-footed, trying their best not to break the ice or slip.
Sophia looked down at the ice, noticing a crack beneath her feet. She stopped walking for a second, taking a breath.
Nick: You're okay. Don't worry.
Sophia continued walking loosely behind Madison. Madison looked behind her at where the RV was, noticing infected following them.
Madison: We got some roamers behind us.
Josh: It's only a few of 'em. We should be alright.
Violet: Lets just get across the lake.
Infected were catching up to them, some falling through the ice and into the water underneath. The group all looked behind at two infected falling into the water together.
