The sky was glistening with stars and I stood there, looking at it, absorbing the sight. I looked down and suddenly a dark shape pushed me to the ground which brought me back to the reality. I started breathing dread instead of air and realised what a moment of distraction did.

The field was filled with figures, some moved, some did not. I moved towards them, hoping to find what I had lost.

Sweat dripped through my forehead and my heartbeat increased. The air felt cooler on my skin, giving me goosebumps. I managed to hide my face under my hood, hoping to not be noticed.

As I walked through the shadows that were lurking beneath me, I heard voices. I came to a halt and to my dread, the voices stopped too. I had two tall figures infront of me. I gathered all my courage to look up at their faces. I instantly took a step back but one of them caught me by my hand. His face had scratches all over and red blotches around his mouth. He kept his eyes fixed at me while coming closer with an evil grin on his face. He was so close that the smell of his breath suffocated me. The next thing I did was so sudden that I only remember him wincing. I hit his knee and made a run towards the trees.

I felt a bit safe there. Through the trees I could see a group of women brewing something on a large pot. Smoke filled the area and as it cleared and when I decided to move towards them, I saw a woman getting something out of the large pot which looked like a small hand. The other women did the same and to my shock, they ate it. I wanted myself out of there but I did not know where to head.

I ran until my legs hurt, it felt like I was circling the same path over and over again. I ran to what seemed like a fountain to me. I was tired and thirsty and saw others drinking from it. While I walked towards it, I found them laughing and making strange noises. I thought being small was an advantage, no one would see me, and exactly that's what happened until I looked at the fountain. The fluid, draining through what seemed like a tube, was blood coloured. I was completely terrified and geared myself to make another run while a woman grabbed me and took me in her arms saying,
"Child, I found you."
I looked up as she held me tight and the world seemed to have come to focus.
"I thought I lost you, mother," I said as tears dripped down my cheeks, "I hate Halloween parties."
