"Is she... dead?" - That was the first thing Amelia heard as consciousness slowly filled her body. She tried to open her eyes, or at least reply to the question she had just heard, but she was too weak. As she tried to get her thoughts together to communicate, a strong sense of pain suddenly filled her limbs; it was the first time she had experienced such an unbearable sensation. Her body twitched uncontrollably as it slowly kicked in, her fists hitting the morbid grass which surrounded her and her legs moving uncontrollably.
"Hold her still! We might be able to save her life!" - A deep voice reverberated on the tall trees surrounding Amelia as a young man used all his strength to hold back her body's reaction.
"Cling!" - The sound of metal filled Amelia's consciousness. After the loud and sharp sound, she opened her eyes effortlessly and found herself in a pure white environment: it was her mind.
"Where am I?" - She whispered to herself as she stood up gently, placing her hands on the ice cold white floor.
Her slim and petite body had a subtle glow and a semi transparent composition; it seemed as if she was fading away. As soon as she noticed, her hazel eyes teared up slightly in fear. "Am I dead? Is this heaven? Someone, please answer me!"
Her cries echoed throughout the whole white surrounding which engulfed her, but there was no response. She had almost lost all hope and was waiting for herself to disappear completely, forgotten.
Suddenly, a blight of light interrupted her thoughts; it was so intense she had to lower her face and close her eyes. Amelia used her arm to cover her face even more, since the light was so bright it was hurting her eyes; but as it had come unexpectedly, it disappeared accordingly.
After a brief moment, the petite girl moved her arm to reveal her face since the imposing light had disappeared, she also noticed something which filled her with relief. Her body was no longer transparent, it however still glowed with a subtle blue color.
She first examined her arms and hands, then her legs and feet; she still seemed to be unharmed. Amelia let out a low sigh, which still echoed in the pure silence of the endless place surrounding her.
As she sat back down to get her thoughts together, she noticed something strange. Her face was mirrored by the floor's white surface and her eyes, once hazel, now showed a very bright blue color. Amelia couldn't help but quickly touch her own face to examine the strange phenomenon, twisting her head and staring closely at those deep blue eyes the reflection showed. They were definitely hers, unless the reflection was lying. She then noticed a very weak glow showing through the side of her white dress. Startled by the unexplainable sight, she gently moved the soft cloth out of the way to reveal a small, glowing symbol. She had never seen it before, it was round and had a ring-like composition; it presented a very complex pattern on the outside ring and a flying bird on the middle.
Amelia touched her side in the intent to examine the symbol, but as soon as the tip of her fingers touched her skin, everything turned black.
-
A brief gasp and quick, weightless footsteps coud be heard.
"She's opening her eyes!".
Once again, Amelia's consciousness began to fill her body, this time without any indication of pain. Her eyelids opened up slowly for the light change not to harm her pupils, revealing a pair of bright, piercing blue eyes. She looked around and noticed she was lying on a comfortable bed, inside a poorly lighted room.
There was almost no furniture surrounding her, just the bed she was lying on and a medium sized chest with a candle on top. That small candle was the only light source inside the room besides the moon's shine in the deep blue night, which penetrated through a small window near the ceiling.
